SECRET WARRIOR showed improvement when third over 1000m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Captain Of All is a progressive type and should enjoy the rise to 1200m. If keeping on a straight line, he should be the one to beat.
SCARLETT HEART showed good improvement when second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. She stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Littlemisssplendid. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
TIME WILL TELL ran a fair race over 1100m at Turffontein last time. He showed good speed but found one too good in the form of One Fine Winter. The son of William Longsword may have more to come.
Race 2
Four of the nine runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. CAPTAIN SELVIE is a daughter of Captain Of All from the Tony Peter stable and Muzi Yeni is booked to ride. She is related to multiple winners including Sarah and Celtic Rumours. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note.
OPEN SESAME is a daughter of Futura from the Mike and Mathew de Kock yard with Gavin Lerena doing duty. Her mother, Magic School was a three-time winner from 1160m to 1600m. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself.
MISS NOVAX is a daughter of Flower Alley from the Lucky Houdalakis stable with Craig Zackey up. She is related to seven-time winner Maquette. If not in need of the run, she can show.
Race 3
SANTIAGO’S PRIDE is better than his last two starts. It must be noted that multiple horses from his last form line have come out and won since. His effort when second over 2300m at Hollywoodbets Greyville three runs ago, was encouraging. If finding the form of that run, he should be the one to beat in this field.
HEROIC ACT was running on when second over 2000m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and if confirming that effort, he should be the one to fill the exacta spot.
CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD finished 1.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
FRANCINE stayed on when fourth in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Acacia Stakes last time. The daughter of Silvano won her only attempt on this course. She should give the males a run for their money.
ZUZAN won a game race in his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. He has won twice from three starts on this course. He is likely to race on the speed from pole position and may be hard to peg back.
SILENT WAR is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Umthombothi Stakes. He is unbeaten from two starts on this course. If putting his best foot forward, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 5
MISTER WILSON won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. He showed good speed and found extra where it matters most. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Act Of War takes on older and stronger. However, he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
LONELY AS A CLOUD stayed on when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He drops back in class and is one of the leading contenders.
SAKHALA IS’CATHULO ran a fair race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He finished 1.5 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
NIGHT VIGIL showed good speed when winning the Non-Black Type Bauhinia Handicap last time. She won over this C&D, three runs ago. Apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia takes the 4kgs off her back which will assist her cause. The daughter of Vercingetorix is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
BOSUM BUDDY finished 1.1 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
GREEN FLASH ran a fair race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is having her peak run today and would not be a shock winner.
Race 7
ONE FELL SWOOP showed good speed in the Non-Black Type Bauhinia Handicap last time, but found one too good in the form of Night Vigil. She won her only attempt on this course. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she can return to winning ways.
TROPPO VELOCE finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today. The daughter of Rafeef is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.
MAGIC TATTOO is better than his last start in the Grade 3 TAB J J The Jet Plane Stakes. On his previous form, he may be the first male past the post.

LADY OF MEMPHIS ran a fair race over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She takes a slight drop in class and is back against her own sex. The daughter of Royal Mo has dropped in the ratings and she may be the one to side with.
OMNIPOTENT was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of One World takes on stronger, but she has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
ARILENA is better than her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. On previous form, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
