RACE 1

BONJOUR LA VILLE is better than her last start in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery. Her first three career outings were good. She showed good speed over this C&D in her penultimate run, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Anotherdanceforme. The daughter of William Longsword is back in Maiden Company and unless one of the first timers are above average, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

MIND FREEZE set the pace over 1200m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Arabian Blue. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle will enjoy the drop back to 1000m and she is one of the leading contenders.

AUGUSTA ROSSO is a daughter of Erik The Red from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie doing duty. She is related to multiple winners including Mister Vargus and Green Jacket. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

RACE 2

WINTER WARFARE should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards in the final 300m. It must be noted that Golden Palm has come out and won a Grade 2 since. If seeing out the extra 200m on offer, he should take a power of beating in this field.

BLOWN AWAY has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced from just off the pace last time, but found one too good in the form of Hot Sauce. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ECRET CHOICE received a bump leaving the start last time and never got into the race. The daughter of Global View gets the services of Richard Fourie and if getting away to a clean start, she can show further improvement.

RACE 3

ASINANTANGA has shown very good improvement since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He cost himself winning last time as he hung inwards in the closing stages. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should go one better.

GRAND ALLEGRO finished 1 length behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

CHEERFUL CHARLIE B was unlucky in his last start over this C&D. The fitting of the cheekpieces seems to have done the trick on the son of Lancaster Bomber. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should finish in the placings.

RACE 4

LUNA HALO has good recent form lines to her credit. She over raced over this C&D last time, but did not go down without a fight. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Fire Away is the class horse in this contest and if Richard Fourie is able to switch her off early, she should take a power of beating.

GIMME’S LASSIE is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

ESSENTIAL received a bump leaving the start last time and stayed on to finish fourth. She has won once and finished third once from three starts on this course. She jumps from pole position and can earn another cheque for her patrons.

 

 

RACE 5

STRATA won a good race in her local debut over 1000m on this course. The manner in which she ran on at the finish was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Despite her big mass of 63kgs, she can follow up with another victory.

MUNCHKIN stayed on when third over 1000m on this course last time. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

GUARDING THE WALL set the pace over 1400m last time and stayed on to finish second. He has won over this distance previously and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

SMASHING has produced three good runs in KZN. She was squeezed leaving the start last time, but ran on well and tried hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Rafeef is back against her own sex and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can notch up her third-career victory.

KOMESANS PASSION finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

SEE YOU IN A BIT ran a good race when second over 1000m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

RACE 7

JUAN CARLOS has good consistent form lines to his credit. He was his own worst enemy last time as he lost two lengths leaving the start and over raced in the early stages. However, the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Frankel has no stamina issues and carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs. If Chase Maujean is able to switch him off early, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

JOY AND PEACE stayed on when fourth over 1900m on the polytrack last time. Five of her eight career victories have come on this course. She is the stable elect with Richard Fourie in the saddle and she should give the males a run for their money.

BOURNEMOUTH is a winner of his last two starts. His run in this contest last year was disappointing. The son of Canford Cliffs is in a good space and cannot be discounted.

RACE 8

NOTHINGELSEMATTERS was running on when second over this C&D last time. The son of Elusive Fort has cracked a good draw of four and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should go one better.

HAARLEM finished 2.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.

ORANJEMUND finished 3 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may battle to turn the form around. With a bit of luck in running, he should earn a cheque for his patrons
