VAMANOS finished 0.4 lengths behind the top selection on debut. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.
DONDOYAKI was disappointing in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. Her debut effort when fifth under Muzi Yeni was fair. The daughter of Danon Platina has scope and she can show improvement.
Race 2
CONSTELLATION produced a promising debut effort over this distance in the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
NYAKA NYAKA showed good improvement when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Rabada is a progressive type and he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
EMERALD CITY is an unraced son of Mambo In Seattle from the Roy Magner stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. His mother, Pool Party was an eight-time winner from 1160m to 1450m. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
Race 3
WAGRAM showed good improvement in her local debut over 1400m on the Standside course. She received a bump leaving the start that day and was reported to have a cut on her right fore. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1600m and she should strip much fitter. Andrew Fortune rides and she may have more to come.
AURORA GREEN was a tad disappointing in her last start over this distance in yielding going. Her penultimate run when second over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. She has scope and with luck in running, she can feature.
MATTIAZO has finished fourth in both her efforts to date. The daughter of Silvano has scope and with Gavin Lerena back in the saddle, she can earn another cheque.
Race 4
MISS SCALETTA is better than her last start in the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic against male company. Her penultimate run when second over this distance on the Standside course was encouraging. She is carded to race on 20 March 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CAPE LIGHTS has fair recent form lines to her credit. She stayed on at the finish in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Acacia Stakes last time. The daughter of Ideal World gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.
MY LADY SOUL ran a fair race over 1400m last time. She won a good race over this distance on the Vaal Classic course in her penultimate run. She has won on this course previously and with Ryan Munger back in the saddle, she should have a say.
Race 5
JUNIPER GREEN won a good race in her last start over 1450m on this course. She set the pace, found another kick and drew off in the run down to the line. The daughter of Querari won her maiden over this distance. She jumps from pole position and with Ryan Munger retaining the ride, she can follow up with another victory.
BOOM BOOM finished 4.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
SECRET RECIPE ran on powerfully when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and with luck in running, she should be right there at the finish.
Race 6
TINTAMARRE ran a fair race over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Fire Away takes a drop in class and should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. Muzi Yeni retains the ride which is a big plus. With luck in running, he can notch up his second-career victory.
PEACE TREATY is better than his last start in the Listed WSB Hawwaam Stakes. He finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
AVOONTOAST has consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts on this course. The daughter of Twice Over will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 7
STORM AHEAD showed signs of a form return in his last start over 2000m on this course. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The son of Rafeef would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
PANNING GOLD is better than his last start in the Listed WSB Hawwaam Stakes. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. The son of Heavenly Blue is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. There should be good improvement to come.
IDEAL FUTURE was a tad disappointing over 1800m last time. She finished 0.2 lengths behind COFFEEBERRY in her penultimate run. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 8
ZANTHAR faced a competitive field in the Grade 3 4Racing National Currency Sprint last time. His three efforts prior to that outing were decent. The son of New Predator has ability and Craig Zackey may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
KINDRED HEART has fair recent form lines to her credit. She has finished third in both her efforts on this course. Ryan Munger retains the ride and she should give the males a run for their money.
ADDRESS THE NATION won his last start in the boardroom as he received a bump at the 150m mark. He takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand
