RACE 1

DUCHESS OF SEVILLE stayed on when third in a work riders race over 1000m on the turf last time. The blinkers remain fitted and she will enjoy the step up to 1200m. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade has a wide draw to overcome, but she gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

TUNE AGAIN is still a maiden after 33 starts, but her last outing was good. She rallied late to finish second over 1000m on this course that day. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

RUBY CLAIRE rallied late when second over 1400m on this course last time. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be involved at the finish.

RACE 2

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BROOKSIDER from the Duncan McKenzie stable. He was his own worst enemy over 1400m last time as he over raced in the early stages. He has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.

PRINCESS BEAUTIFUL has produced two moderate runs since relocating to the Eastern Cape. She gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Stable jockey Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she can improve.

CHIEF RUNNER was reported to be not striding out in his last two starts. The 12-week break may have done him the world of good. The son of Danon Platina has scope and can show good improvement in this field.

RACE 3

MONTELENA has good consistent form lines to her credit. She rallied late when second in the Listed Lady’s Pendant last time. She has won once, finished second three times and third twice from as many starts on this course. Luyolo Mxothwa retains the ride and she can notch up her fifth-career victory.

WOMAN OF POWER is in good form heading into this contest. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from eight starts over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.

LOVEGRASS won a good race over 1200m on the turf last time. She finished 1.6 lengths behind the top selection in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 4

ALWAYS SHINING ran a fair race over this C&D last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as the saddle was reported to have slipped. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he can win a race of this nature.

LAUGH TILL I CRY found one too good in the form of One Giant Leap last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is in a good space and she should give the males a run for their money.

OH MANDY finished 1.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. The daughter of Rafeef will be staying on at the business end.

RACE 5

CORAL CREEK has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He was running on when second over this C&D last time. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can go one better.

BOSNAY was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. The daughter of Potala Palace won her only attempt over this C&D. She is versatile and with luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

KYOMAI returns from a short eight-week break during which time he changed stables. The son of Danon Platina takes a drop in the ratings and jumps from a good draw of three. If settled into his new surroundings, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

ARABIAN RED has good recent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and rallied late to finish third. The daughter of Heavenly Blue is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and from pole position, she should be the one to beat.

CALL TO GLORY finished 0.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

STRANGE MAGIC stayed on after a slow start over 1200m on the turf last time. The daughter of Erupt drops back in class and she may be the one to spoil the Alan Greeff party.

RACE 7

ASPOESTERTJIE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had no luck in running. She won her penultimate run over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. She does get the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nihans Baboo which will assist her cause. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she can cause the upset.

SHARAPOVA has been costly to follow since arriving in the Eastern Cape. She stayed on when fourth over 1000m on this course last time. The daughter of Querari merits healthy respect.

SWISS WALT’S last two starts have been fair. He drops in class and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be the first male past the winning post.

RACE 8

CHILI BOMB was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over 1400m on this course last time. He raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and won with a ton in hand. The son of Lancaster Bomber takes on stronger from a wide draw. However, he has found a new lease of life in the Eastern Cape and should be up to the task at hand.

KING RAHUL finished 2.55 lengths behind GLOBETONIC last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Captain Of All is one of the leading contenders.

GLOBETONIC won a good race over 1400m on the turf last time. Three of his six career victories have come on this course. He jumps from a good draw of four and merits healthy respect.

RACE 9

DOWNING SEVEN is better than his last three starts against stronger company. He has won three times and finished second once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of William Longsword takes a drop in class and from his good draw of three, he can return to winning ways.

JACK IN THE GREEN stayed on after losing two lengths at the start last time. He has won once and finished second once from three starts on this course. If jumping on terms from pole position, he can return to winning ways.

PAINITE just held on when winning his last start over this distance on the turf. He has won twice and finished third twice from five starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved at the finish
