Race 1
WHISPERING DEATH caught the eye when winning over 1450m on the Inside course, at the second time of asking. The son of Danon Platina won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. He will love the rise to 1600m and from pole position, he should follow up with another victory.
ROYALE JACKET ran a fair race on debut over 1100m on this course. He understandably raced green, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Ideal World would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1600m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
GOLDEN WARRIOR finished 5.65 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand.
Race 3
ESTEEMED was super-impressive when winning on debut over this C&D, last week Saturday. He was settled just off the pace, quickened up well and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. The son of Rafeef takes on much stronger today but looks to have plenty of class. If this run has not come too soon, he should remain unbeaten.
KING HARALD showed good speed when winning on debut over this C&D. He is related to multiple winners including Grade 1 winner Lucky Lad. The son of Erik The Red could be anything and is one of the leading contenders.
CHARMING CHEETAH ran on strongly when winning the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes over 1000m on this course. He should love the extra distance on offer and can follow up.
Race 4
BLIZZARD SNOW finished 0.75 lengths behind QUASIKAT last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
QUASIKAT produced a strong finish when winning her last start over 1160m on this course. The daughter of Quasillo meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she merits healthy respect.
DIVINE MOON LIGHT finished 2.15 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She will strip a much fitter horse and would not be a shock winner.
Race 5
PRESSONREGARDLESS’ last two starts have been good. He set the pace over this C&D last time, before getting caught late by Hotarubi. The son of Lancaster Bomber returns to handicap company this afternoon. Diego De Gouveia is likely to adopt the same tactics and he may be hard to peg back.
FULLY LOADED challenged strongly when second over this distance at the Vaal last time. His record on this course is a slight concern, but he drops in class and should pose a threat.
PALACE DANCER has good consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on when third over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She jumps from a good draw of three and merits obvious inclusion.
Race 6
SPUMANTE DOLCE is much better than her last start in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic as she was reported to have mucus in the trachea. Her penultimate run when winning the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas catches the eye. The daughter of Vercingetorix is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and may be the one to side with.
FATAL FLAW was a tad disappointing in the Grade 1 Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes last time. She was an impressive winner in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas in her penultimate run. The daughter of New Predator is likely to get her own way in front and may be hard to peg back.
WHITE PEARL is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes. Piere Strydom steps back into the saddle and on best form shown, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 7
WILLIAM ROBERTSON has top consistent form lines to his credit. He won the Grade 3 TAB JJ The Jet Plane Stakes with ease over this C&D last time. The 6yo gelding is clearly in a good space and with Ryan Munger retaining the ride, he can bring up the hat-trick.
LUCKY LAD is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes. Five of his seven career victories have come on this course. He finished third in his penultimate run over this distance. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will be mowing down the frontrunners at the finish.
CRUISE CONTROL is better than his last start in the Grade 1 HKJC World Pool Cape Flying Championship. He has won seven times from eleven starts over this distance. The 5yo gelding should be ideally suited to this course. If all went well with his travels, he should be hard to catch.
Race 8
ROYAL VICTORY was a beaten odds-on favourite in the Non-Black Type Umthombothi Stakes last time. He was running on when 1.3 lengths behind IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon. The son of Pathfork runs his best races on this course and won this race last year. Muzi Yeni knows him well and with a bit of luck in running, he can defend his title.
FIRE ATTACK was running on too late when second in the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic last time. The manner in which he has been finishing off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 2000m. He does have to contend with the widest draw, but he gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
ATTICUS FINCH is better than his last two starts at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. His last victory came over this C&D in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup. The son of Master Of My Fate cannot be discounted.
Race 9
IMMEDIATE EDGE is unbeaten from three starts to date. He had to work hard to get the better of WILD INTENT in the Listed WSB Hawwaam Stakes last time. The son of Vercingetorix looks to have plenty of class and should love the rise to 2450m. Ryan Munger knows him well and with luck from his awkward draw of eight, he should remain unbeaten.
WILD INTENT tried hard when touched off by the top selection last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should have no issues with the rise to 2450m. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
LEGEND OF ARTHUR stayed on after a slow start in the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry- ripe. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 10
FIERY PEGASUS was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic last time. She showed a good turn of foot and won with ease. The daughter of Captain Of All tries the 2450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be too good for this field.
WORLD OF ALICE finished 7 lengths behind the top selection last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she should not have any issues with the rise to 2450m. Craig Zackey knows her well and the pair merit healthy respect.
GERBERA is better than her last run suggests. The daughter of One World should love the rise in distance. She looks to have some class about her and with Ryan Munger retaining the ride, she would not be a shock winner.
Race 11
COSMIC SPEED won a good race in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time. The son of Querari raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and drew off in the closing stages. He won a Grade 2 over this distance as a juvenile. Richard Fourie has won on him previously and he may be the one to side with.
MAIN DEFENDER ran on powerfully to get the better of BARBARESCO last time. He has won four times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
TEXAS RED has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of The United States is versatile and cannot be ignored.
Race 12
POETS WARRIOR ran a fair race in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers last time. The son of Wylie Hall will love the return to the Highveld as he is unbeaten from three starts on this course. JP van der Merwe is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome his wide draw and the combination should be hard to peg back.
MARAUDING HORDE finished 1.7 lengths behind BREEZE OVER last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, he should throw out a big challenge to the top selection.
BREEZE OVER won a game race in the Listed WSB Aquanaut Handicap. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the pair merit obvious inclusion
