Race 1 

LITTLEMISSSPLENDID made the expected natural improvement when winning her last start over this C&D. She raced from just off the pace, quickened up well and drew off in the closing stages. The daughter of Act Of War is the only winner in this contest and she can follow up.

BACK FROM WAR is better than her last start in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes as she was reported to have choked up. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

JINGLEBERRY is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Gavin Lerena up. She is related to six-time winner Coin Spinner. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 2

ARISTOTLE tried hard when second over 1600m on this course last time. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Rafeef is the best-weighted runner in this contest and he should take a power of beating.

GRAND CRESCENDO is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. The son of One World is unbeaten from two starts over this distance and on best form shown, he can keep that record intact.

GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE is better than his last start in the Grade 2 TAB Hawaii Stakes. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say.

Race 3

ARTIC SILVER stayed on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Querari has scope and will love the rise to 1800m. She jumps from a good draw of three and may be the one to side with.

ART NOUVEAU raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Lapis Lazuli. She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. She is carded to race on 09 April 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

CITY LIGHTS has decent recent form lines to her credit. The daughter of Pomodoro will be staying on from her wide draw of nine.

Race 4

CARNELO set the pace over 1600m on the Inside course last time before getting outrun late. He finished 0.7 lengths behind OMBUDSMAN that day. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has placed twice from as many starts over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

OMBUDSMAN tried hard when second over 1600m last time. He is in a good space and with Piere Strydom retaining the ride, he can go one better.

GAMER has consistent form lines to his name. He took on slightly stronger in his last start over this distance on the Inside course. The son of Potala Palace cannot be ignored.

Race 5

THUNEE PLAYA is better than his last start in the Listed WSB Aquanaut Handicap. He won a game race in the Listed 4Racing Dr Richard Maponya Handicap in his penultimate run. He has won over this distance previously and if keeping on a straight line, he can notch up his sixth-career victory.

MUSICAL SCORE was in need of his first run as a gelding last time. He should enjoy the step up in distance and is one of the leading contenders.

ROYAL EDITION tried hard when second over 1800m on this course last time. If repeating that effort in this type of field, he should be hard to peg back.

 

 

Race 6

ONE FELL SWOOP’S last two starts have been good. She showed good speed in the Non-Black Type Bauhinia Handicap last time, but found one too good in the form of Night Vigil. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is in a good space and she should give the males a run for their money.

DREAMLAND showed good speed over 1160m last time before getting outrun late. Two of his six career victories have come over this C&D. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia which should assist his cause.

COSMIC STAR returns from a 21-week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 7

BUFFALO STORM CODY was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1200m on the Inside course. The gelding did the trick on the son of Buffalo Bill Cody. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and he should be the one to beat once again. He is carded to race on 09 April 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

LEAD THE CHARGE has shown signs of needing his last two starts. He is having his peak run and on best form shown, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

MOUNT PINATUBO won a good race over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. If fit, he should run a big race.

Race 8

MISS SCALETTA was given a well-timed ride when winning her last start over 1600m on the Inside course. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, she may be the one to side with.

MARY’S GREENLIGHT is better than her last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that Oxalis Gold has come out and won again since. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can show.

DOITWITHDIAMONDS has good recent form lines to her credit. She has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 9

FLAMBOYANT FLYER was running on when third over 1600m on the Inside course last time. She has won once and finished second once from four starts over this distance. She drops in class and from pole position, she can return to winning ways.

ELEMBEE stayed on when third over 2000m on the Inside course last time. She also drops back in class and with luck in running, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

AZALEAS FOR ALL finished 1.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish
