PRICELESS TREASURE showed good pace when second over this distance on the polytrack, on debut. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

SOMBREUIL is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Kelly Mitchley stable with Calvin Habib in the saddle. She is related to Priscilla Maisey who has won once and placed four times from eight starts. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

BAROLO was touched off on debut over 1200m on this course. She took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1400m. Craig Zackey steps into the saddle and she can go one better.

SILVAN MISTRESS finished 0.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. She was a beaten odds-on favourite that day. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

ROYAL CITY GIRL finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The daughter of Royal Mo would have come on from the outing and should make the natural improvement.

LOTUS ISLAND is a winner of her last three starts over this distance. She raced from a handy position last time, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Ideal World has found a new lease of life since relocating to the Eastern Cape and she is the horse to beat.

FIRST WISH has won her last three starts, the latest of which was over 1800m on this course. Richard Fourie has opted to ride the top choice, but she is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

TAP SHOES should have finished closer to the winner over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should love the rise to 2000m. With a bit of luck in running, she may spoil the Greeff party.

 

 

RACE 5

BLOSSOMING MIND showed some improvement when fourth over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. She raced from a handy position that day and stayed on at the finish. The drop to 1400m is a slight concern, but she is coming along the right way and may be the one to side with.

TWILIGHT BAY returns from a 10-week break and is having her first run for Gavin Smith. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive in this type of field.

GENTEEL moved up well over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Ono No Komachi. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

FINAL EDITION was running on well after a slow start over this C&D last time. He takes a drop in class and Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

PRIME VENTURE stayed on when fourth over 2200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. Both his career victories have come over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GRANDIOSA got up on the line when winning her stable debut over this C&D. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Silvano is in a good space and she should give the males a run for their money.

RACE 7

KINGDUNDEE should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards in the final 250m. His penultimate run when winning over this C&D was super impressive. The son of The United States is having his peak run and with Craig Zackey back in the saddle, he should take a power of beating.

MERCANTOUR ran a good race when fourth in his stable debut in the Listed Mining Pressure Systems East Cape Sprint Cup. He drops to 1000m and the blinkers should sharpen him up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

ANUSCHKA’S WORLD finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of One World is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.

RACE 8

CHAMPONELLE has produced two good second place finishes since winning his maiden. He finished 0.25 lengths behind SWEET AND TRUE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. It is encouraging that Marco van Rensburg steps back into the saddle and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

COASTAL PATH finished 0.45 lengths behind SWEET AND TRUE in the race referred to above. He is also 2kgs better off at the weights and should turn the form around.

CAPTAIN TIK TOK stayed on strongly when 1.2 lengths behind SWEET AND TRUE last time. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he may be rewarded for consistency
