Race 1

CAPTAINSHIP showed good improvement in his last two runs before the 21-week break. The son of Captain Of All was gelded during his time off the track. Andrew Fortune rides on his return and if not in need of the run, he should be involved at the finish.

OLD FASHIONED hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. He has finished second in his last two starts over this distance. Sean Veale may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

GALACTIC LOVER ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. If repeating that effort in this field, he should be competitive.

Race 2

ARE YOU SURE is lightly raced with some good form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Princess Goldie. The daughter of Futura is having her peak run today and she can go one better.

LUCIENNE made the expected natural improvement when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

RUBY RISING ran a good race when third in male company over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She will strip much fitter and cannot be ignored.

Race 3

PIONEER SQUARE has good form lines to his credit. He was running on when third over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Querari returns from a 17-week break, during which time he was gelded. He jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

GRAN CANARIA hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He ran a decent race when second in his first run as a gelding. The son of Vercingetorix will strip much fitter and with luck in running, he should pose a massive threat.

WHITE SEAHORSE’S last two starts have been good. He drops back to 1400m and if keeping on a straight line, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

POURSOMESUGARONME is much better than her last two starts. She had no luck in the straight in her penultimate run and raced wide around the turn in her last outing. The daughter of Captain Of All has taken a drop in the ratings. She jumps from pole position and with a bit of luck in transit, she can cause the upset.

RADU raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Jeanne Darc. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Rabada merits healthy respect.

PRINCESS GOLDIE won a game race when shedding her maiden tag over 1200m last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should enjoy the rise to 1400m. She takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 5

SHOOT THE RAPIDS produced a good comeback run when second over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He raced from a handy position and fought hard all the way to the line. The son of Erupt has finished third on this course previously. He has plenty of class about him and can return to winning ways.

CAPE EAGLE was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1750m on this course. He will strip a much fitter horse today and can defend his title.

RAISEAHALLELUJAH is better than his last start in the Listed 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup. Three of his nine victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

 

 

Race 6

CELTIC BEAUTY ran a decent race in her comeback run over a distance short of her best. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Vercingetorix won this race last year and she can defend her title.

FORGIVENESS is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. The daughter of Silvano has class about her and if putting her best foot forward, she should fight out the finish.

MASCHERINA ran on from last when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She has won twice and finished second once from six starts on this course. She will strip a much fitter horse and cannot be ignored.

Race 7

NARINA TROGON was running on when fourth over 1600m in the Listed Kings Cup last time. The son of Silvano won this race last year. He jumps from a good draw of three and can defend his title.

FIRE ‘N FLAMES stayed on when fourth in the Grade 2 TAB Hawaii Stakes last time. The son of Fire Away should have no issues with the rise to 1750m. Rachel Venniker is booked to ride and if all went well with his travels, he should go close.

RAPIDASH ran a fair race when second in the Listed City Of Cape Town Jet Master Stakes last time. He finished second in his only attempt on this course. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

NORTHERN WARRIOR was running on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He has won twice and finished second once from eight starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and can notch up his eighth-career victory.

TCHAIKOVSKY is better than his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. His penultimate run catches the eye. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he cannot be ignored.

RHYTHM fought hard when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. He returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 9

PRIZED PLATINUM found one too good in the form of Warm Winter Nite last time. His penultimate run when winning over this C&D was encouraging. Sean Veale steps back into the saddle and if all went well with his travels, he can notch up his third-career victory.

ULTRA QUICK stayed on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

DOUBLE OLYMPIC showed some signs of a form return over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He carries another light mass of 50.5kgs and if confirming his recent improvement, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 10

MISTER NIBBLES ran on well when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. That was his first start for the Paul Lafferty stable. 4kgs claiming apprentice Jacey Botes retains the ride and if jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways.

PALERMO is better than his last start over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ROOSTER BRADSHAW has produced two decent runs since winning his maiden. He finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish
