Race 1 

IDEAL SUMMER made natural improvement when second over 1600m at Turffontein last time. He stayed on at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Whispering Death. The son of Ideal World is a progressive type and with luck in running, he can go one better.

ETHICAL was in need of her debut effort over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. The daughter of Heavenly Blue would have come on from the run and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may pose a threat. 

BOLD ACTION ran a fair race over 1200m on the Classic course last time. The daughter of Futura is bred to enjoy the rise to 1700m. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and she should have improvement to come.

Race 2

ALESIAN BEAU raced from a prominent position over this distance at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish third. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

RINGHO finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

INSPECTOR JAMES is better than his comeback run as he received a bump at the start and was reported to be distressed. The son of What A Winter would have come on from the run. If getting away to a clean start, he would not be a shock winner.

Race 3

QUIET WINTER produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. Despite jumping inwards at the start, she showed pace and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of What A Winter should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should go close.

CAPTAIN SELVIE ran a decent race on debut over 1200m on the Classic course. That race was in soft conditions and she would have come on from the run. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

DESERT CLOUD was a beaten odds-on favourite in her last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. She is back against her own sex and should be cherry-ripe. Muzi Yeni may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 4

QUANTUM THEORY ran a good race when fourth over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He raced from a prominent position and stayed on to finish fourth. The son of Querari would have come on from the run. He carries a nice handy galloping weight of 54kgs and can notch up his fifth-career victory.

CHOCOLATE SOLDIER is better than his last start in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint. The son of One World has ability and on best form shown, he should fight out the finish.

COUSIN CASEY finished second in his last four starts in the 2023/2024 racing season. He returns from a lengthy 37-week break and may need the run over this distance. However, he has plenty of class and cannot be ignored.

Race 5

INCLUSION showed improvement when fourth over 1400m at Turffontein last time. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can shed his maiden tag in this field.

FUTURE KING finished 2.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

GIFT OF ROYAL stayed on when fourth over 2000m on the Classic course last time. With a bit of luck in running, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

 

 

Race 6

KING’S EXPRESS was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished third once from six starts on this course. The son of Pomodoro has cracked a good draw of three and can follow up with another victory.

TWO MILES WEST was outrun late when fourth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

MOUNT DARWIN finished 1.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 7

SONIC JET was an easy winner of her last start on the Classic course. She set the pace, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Erupt is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. She carries a handy galloping mass of 55kgs and can follow up with another victory.

POINTER stayed on when third over this distance at Turffontein last time. If suited to this course, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

DESTINY OF FIRE cost herself at the start last time. She was reported to be not striding out. The 10-week break may have done her the world of good and if fit, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

MOUNTAIN HIGH was not disgraced when fifth in the Non-Black Type Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial last time. The daughter of Rafeef may not have seen out the 2000m at this stage of her career. She finished third in her only attempt on this course. She drops back to 1400m and may be the one to side with.

BLIND AMBITION followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. She took the lead at the 300m mark before getting outrun by Pretty Analia. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SHAMPIMPI is better than her last start over this distance at Turffontein. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is back against her own sex and may be hard to peg back.

Race 9

PEARL IN HER CROWN has shown signs of needing her last two starts on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she can notch up her second-career victory.

MOCHA MACAROON has good consistent form lines to her name. She finished 1.4 lengths behind PRINCESS ILARIA last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

PRINCESS ILARIA is a winner of her last two starts. She received a five-pound penalty for her last victory. The daughter of Pomodoro is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.

Race 10

AFTER HOURS should have finished closer to the winner against stronger company last time. He has won once and finished third twice from four starts over this distance. The 7yo gelding drops back in class and he may be the one to beat.

THUNDERBIRD won a good race over 1500m on the Classic course last time. He steps back up in class but is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

CLARKSON stayed on when fourth over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He is having his peak run today and is coming along the right way under Raymond Danielson. The son of Ato would not be a shock winner
