Race 1 

GOLDEN ALEXIA is better than her last start over 1600m on this course as she was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that Immediate Edge has come out and won again since. Her first two career outings were encouraging. The daughter of Pomodoro gets the services of Siyabonga Mkhumbuzi and she may be the one to beat in this field.

LAVA LAMP ran a fair race on debut over 1450m on the Inside course. The daughter of Erupt would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

MADAME POMPADOUR is better than her stable debut over 1450m on the Inside course. Phelisile Mongqawa steps into the saddle and she can show improvement in this line-up.

Race 2

OPERA FAN has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She was running on when second over 1100m on this course. The daughter of Horizon is a progressive type and unless one of the first timers have ability, she should go one better.

ONE TIGER is an unraced son of One World from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to seven-time winner Meridius. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

ALPHA WORLD is a son of One World from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with S’manga Khumalo in the irons. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 3

EIGHT HATS ran a fair race on debut over this distance on the Inside course. She took time to find her feet but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Hat Puntano would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.

EXPLOSIVE POWER is an unraced daughter of Erupt from the Robyn Klaasen stable with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle. She is related to two-time winner Unsolved Riddle. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers in this contest.

WINTER BELLE hails from the Mike and Adam Azzie yard and she is a daughter of What A Winter. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if not in need of the run, she can show.

Race 4

GREEN STREET set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Great Notion. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight returns from a 10-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the outing, she should give the males a run for their money.

ICHACHA has been costly to follow. He is better than his last start as he was reported to be fatigued. The son of Danon Platina returns from a 17-week break. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

SHAMOON stayed on when third over 1200m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of One World has scope and may have more to come.

 

 

Race 5

INCLUSION showed good improvement when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Craig Zackey is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw and he may be hard to peg back.

ART NOUVEAU raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Lapis Lazuli. She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

NKWENKWEZI raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of The Mightiest. The daughter of Erupt should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

ROMEO’S MAGIC won his last start over this C&D easier than the official margin suggests. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Elusive Fort meets a similar line-up this afternoon and he can follow up with another victory.

TO THE RESCUE finished 2.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

ROSY LEMON has fair consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 4.1 lengths behind the top selection in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 7

BUFFALO STORM CODY was super-impressive when winning his first start as a gelding over 1200m on the Inside course. He took the lead at the 500m mark and drew clear with ease. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody has plenty of class about him and should follow up with another victory.

BOB’S YOUR UNCLE rallied late when second over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Cymric. He is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.

NIGHT BOMBER tired late when third over 1400m last time. He finished 0.4 lengths behind the second selection in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 8

OPEN HIGHWAY stayed on when fourth over 1450m on the Inside course last time. The son of Var continues to drop in the ratings and takes a drop in class. He is drawn on the outside of the course and can notch up his fifth-career victory.

HONG KONG was running on when second over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

WARM WINTER NITE was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Kabelo Matsunyane won on the son of What A Winter three runs ago and the combination merit healthy respect
