RACE 1

BRIGHAM is having his first run in the Eastern Cape for Trainer Kelly Mitchley. He was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1500m on the Turffontein Inside course. His form prior to that outing was decent. Muzi Yeni rides from a good draw of three, and the tongue-tie has been fitted. If taking to the polytrack, he can shed his maiden tag in this line-up. 

PROLIFIC STAR showed improvement in his last start over 1600m on this course. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he had to be eased at the 150m mark. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick and he is one of the leading contenders. 

GLOBAL DRUMBEAT finished second over 1600m on the turf, on Monday. He found one too good in the form of Pyro Edition that day. He finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 2

PIBE DE ORO produced a typical second run after a rest last time. He finished 2.75 lengths behind CLIFFIE CLAVIN that day. The son of One World is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is having his peak run and gets the services of in-form Jockey Luyolo Mxothwa. He has cracked a good draw of four and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. 

CLIFFIE CLAVIN was running on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

GREY WARRIOR returns from a 12-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He gets the tongue-tie fitted which may do the trick. The son of Heavenly Blue has scope and can improve with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle.

RACE 3

DESERT CLOUD is having her first run for the Zietsman Oosthuizen stable. She jumped inwards leaving the start over 1000m at Turffontein last time and stayed on to finish third. The booking of Muzi Yeni is a big plus. She meets the right field in her local debut and with luck in running, she should be too good. 

BUDDLEJA cost herself winning last time as she hung inwards in the final 250m. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Master Of My Fate. She is a progressive type and may be hard to catch. 

MIDNIGHT MUSIC ran a fair race when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Her best career effort came over this C&D, and she cannot be discounted. 

RACE 4

KINGS AGAIN returns from a 12-week break and is having her first run for the Alan Greeff stable. The daughter of One World has been disappointing since winning on debut over 1200m at the Vaal. She has dropped in the ratings and gets the tongue-tie fitted for the first time. She has scope and if taking to the polytrack, she may be the one to beat. 

INDEBE MAYIBUYE has good recent form lines to her credit. She set the pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. Dubai Hills has come out and won again since. She jumps from a good draw of two and merits healthy respect. 

SWISS WALT showed a good turn of foot when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. Luyolo Mxothwa retains the ride, and he should be the first male past the post. 

RACE 5

LE PREMIERE showed improvement when fourth over 1100m on this course last time. She finished 0.1 lengths behind BOMBER GIRL that day. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Two of her three career victories have come over this distance. She will strip much fitter and would not be a shock winner. 

ARTICUNO is better than her last start as she had to check at the 300m mark and was reported to have a mouth injury. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. On previous form, she should go close to winning. 

BONJOUR LA VILLE was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the turf. She takes on stronger, but may be ahead of the handicapper and should be up to the task at hand. 

Race 6

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN showed good signs of a form return when third over this C&D last time. He received a bump leaving the start, but finished off his race strongly. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride from pole position. If confirming his recent improvement, he may be the one to beat. 

CONCERTO took on stronger in her last start over 1400m on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is much better suited to the polytrack and should give the males a run for their money.

A BIT CHILLY was touched off in his last start over 2000m on this course. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Last Winter will be at peak fitness and should be right there at the finish. 

RACE 7

PAS DE NOM showed very good improvement when third in his stable debut over 1200m on this course. He cost himself winning that day as he hung inwards in the final 150m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. Three of his five career victories have come over this distance. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

DOWSER found one too good in the form of Mr Fox last time. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

MASTER FORESTER was his own worst enemy last time as he over raced in the early stages. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. If S’manga Khumalo is able to switch him off early, he should be competitive.

RACE 8

This is a competitive Classified Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is WORDSWORTH from the Cliffie Miller stable. He showed good speed over 1000m on this course last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Tintamarre. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Marco van Rensburg knows him well and he may be the one to side with. 

LUCKY SPIRIT ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. He is an inconsistent type but if putting his best foot forward, he should be hard to peg back. 

ISN‘T SHE BONNY stayed on strongly when third over 1000m on the turf last time. Stallone Naidoo retains the ride and if confirming her recent improvement, she should give the males a run for their money
