Race 1
SLENDER SILHOUETTE produced two fair efforts in the Western Cape. She stayed on when fourth over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix returns from a 22-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She will love the rise to 1200m and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she may be the one to beat.
ACTUARY ran a fair race on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. The son of Futura would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.
WARM RECEPTION is an unraced daughter of Fire Away from the Candice Dawson stable with Serino Moodley in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner Heather’s Boy. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
SARAGOSSA CAT is the best bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. She showed good pace but found one too good in the form of Japanese Garden. The daughter of Hurricane Cat would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she can go one better.
CONCORDIA has fair recent form lines to her name. She stayed on when fourth over 1400m at the Vaal last time. Jason Gates steps into the saddle and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
AMAZE ME stayed on when fourth over 1000m on the Standside course last time. She finished 1.4 lengths behind the second selection in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 3
ALPHA WORLD made the expected natural improvement when third over 1200m on this course last time. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of One World is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1600m. He will strip much fitter and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
STEP INTO IT was in need of his debut effort over this C&D. He understandably raced green and stayed on at the finish. The son of Elusive Fort would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
WORLD ORDER found one too good in the form of Radio Star last time. It is encouraging that Raymond Danielson retains the ride and he should finish in the placings.
Race 4
MATCHA MINT has finished second in her last three starts, the latest of which was over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She challenged strongly all the way to the line but found one too good in the form of Blizzard Quest. Muzi Yeni rides on her return and in this field, she should shed her maiden tag.
SPECIAL STAR was in need of her debut effort over this C&D. She was green in running and reported to be blowing post-race. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and she will be fitted with the blinkers. Callan Murray rides and she should make the natural improvement.
ZAHRA DOMINIA was a tad disappointing over 1400m last time. Her penultimate run when second was encouraging. Craig Zackey steps into the saddle and she can finish in the placings.
Race 5
CHESTNUT BOMBER showed some signs of a form return in his comeback run over 1400m on the Standside course. He stayed on at the finish that day. The son of Lancaster Bomber won his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse and may be the one to side with.
DANCE KING‘S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that Choisaanada has come out and won again since. The son of Global View is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.
PIONEER SQUARE followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1800m on the Standside course. He raced from a handy position and tried hard all the way to the line. The son of Querari is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 6
THE ULTIMATE KING was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Standside course. He won a lot easier than the official margin suggests as he was geared down. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Vercingetorix has class about him and should take a power of beating.
LUCE VERDE ran a good race when third in his first run on the Highveld. He was doing his best work at the finish that day and would have come on from the outing. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
VESUVIO is in good form. He raced from a handy position over 2400m last time and stayed on to finish third. Two of his eight career victories have come over this distance. The 6yo gelding should run another honest race.
Race 7
FRANCILIEN is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She returns from a 28-week break which would have done her the world of good. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. Her best form has come under Gavin Lerena and she may be the horse to beat.
SUMMER WINTER has produced two decent runs since winning her maiden over 1000m on this course. She takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand.
PRETTY PERSUASIVE won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1400m on the Standside course last time. She returns from a well-deserved 13-week break. She does take on much stronger, but has plenty of scope and should give a good account of herself.
Race 8
BLUSHING BLOOM won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She raced from a prominent position, found a good kick and drew off in the closing stages. The daughter of Flower Alley is the stable elect with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. She is a progressive type and can follow up with another victory.
RIFLE QUEEN won a good race on debut at a nice price over 1160m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
ON THE RUN is the stable companion of the top choice. She won a good race over 1000m on the Standside course last time. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 9
NYAKA NYAKA stayed on when second over 1400m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that Jan Van Goyen has come out and won a Grade 1 since. The son of Rabada won his only attempt on this course. He is having his first run for the Tony Peter stable and he may be the one to beat.
BJORN IRONSIDE returns from a 25-week break and is back on the Highveld. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
RODEO DRIVE has decent consistent form lines to her name. She was not disgraced when fourth in the Listed HKIR In December Umngeni Handicap last time. The daughter of The United States should give the males a run for their money
