Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Thursday 7th August where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
PALACE ATTACK has fair form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer last time as he hung inwards in the final 400m. The son of Potala Palace is a progressive type and meets the right field. If Calvin Habib is able to keep him on a straight line, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
FRERE JACQUES ran a decent race on debut over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. He returns from a 21-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of the outing, he should give a good account of himself.
AMANDLA NGAWETHU ran a fair race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. Callan Murray is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 2
CHANTILLY DREAM ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the form of that outing has been franked. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.
RENDEVOUS IN RIO found one too good in the form of Tuscan Romance last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She has plenty of scope and is one of the leading contenders.
EMPRESS WU has decent recent form lines to her name. She steps back up to 1400m and another honest effort is expected. She is carded to race on 31 July 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 3
INSPECTOR JAMES lost a length leaving the start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse and if jumping on terms, he can go one better.
TIME WILL TELL has decent recent form lines to his name. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GASLIGHT DANCER is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. The tongue-tie is fitted which may do the trick. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 4
WILLIAM WEST returns from a 14-week break and is having his first run for the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable. His last two starts at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth were fair. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 1.5kgs off his back and if settled into his new surroundings, he may be the one to beat.
NAZARE took on stronger over this distance at Turffontein last time. He drops back in class and on best form shown, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
MISTER WILSON won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this distance on the Classic course last time. He returns from a 22-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He is a horse with scope and if fit, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 5
VALIEVA finished 1.2 lengths behind GLOBAL THUNDER last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
GLOBAL THUNDER is a winner of her last two starts. She showed speed over 1000m on the Classic course last time and fought back well. She is carded to race on 31 July 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
TIME FOR CHARITY finished 0.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 6
SILVER FLARE stayed on when second over this distance on the Classic course last time, but found one too good in the form of Lava Lamp. 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Dookhit retains the ride. She is in a good space and can go one better in this line-up.
STOP THE TRAFFIC was outrun late when second over 2000m on the Classic course last time. He does have to contend with the widest draw but Philasande Mxoli knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
CARTAGENA stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Classic course last time. She won her penultimate over this C&D by 7.75 lengths. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle merits healthy respect.
Race 7
GIMMEACHOICE was not disgraced in his first run for the Joe Soma stable. He would have come on from the outing and should strip a much fitter horse. He takes a slight drop in class and can notch up his second-career victory.
TRIDENT KING ran a fair race over 1600m on the Classic course last time. The son of Pathfork has dropped in the ratings and with a bit of luck in running, he should fight out the finish.
FUTUREWOLFF has fair consistent form lines to his name. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from 13 starts over this distance. The son of Futura should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 8
PEREGRINE FALCON produced an encouraging first run for the Fabian Habib stable. He stumbled leaving the start but stayed on to finish third. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will strip a much fitter horse. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Dezahn Louw and in this field, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
CAPE SAFFRON followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over this distance at Turffontein. She will strip much fitter and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Damyan Pillay, she should pose a threat.
STROKE OF MERCY ran a fair race over 1200m on the Classic course last time. He finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice that day. He is 6.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around
