It was a cracking opening weekend and betting aside there was some great rugby.

England v USA (22 Aug)

• Bet: 3 units USA under 1.5 tries (13/20, Hollywood)

• Result: USA scored 1 try in a 69–7 defeat. As strange as it sounds I was impressed with the USA who were just up against a scary strong team. 

•  Bet won ✅

Australia v Samoa (23 Aug)

• Bet: 2 units Australia -35.5 (0.94/1, Betxchange)

• Result: Australia won 73–0. This bet was never in doubt.

•  Bet won ✅

Scotland v Wales (23 Aug)

• Bet: 0.5 units draw at 29/1 (Betxchange)

• Result: Scotland won 38–8. Scotland were impressive and I decided not to get involved in the handicaps or points. 

• Bet lost ❌

Canada v Fiji (23 Aug)

• Bet: 3 units Canada -51.5 (19/20, Betxchange)

• Result: Canada won 65–7 (covering the spread). Fiji scored a brilliant try but Canada stretched clear to land the spoils. 

• Bet won ✅

France v Italy (23 Aug)

• Bet: 3 units France -16.5 (0.92/1, Betxchange)

• Result: France won 24–0. Italy defended well but couldn't create scoring opportunities.

Ireland v Japan (24 Aug)

• Bet: 3 units Ireland -23.5 (0.93/1, Betxchange)

• Result: Ireland won 42–14. We had to sweat this one a bit as Japan threw everythng at Ireland in the closing stages.

South Africa v Brazil (24 Aug)

• Bet: 3 units SA over 55.5 points (0.86/1, Betxchange)

• Result: South Africa won 66–6 (scoring 66). There was a time when the points dried up but in the end Brail were battered into submission.

•  Bet won ✅

New Zealand v Spain (24 Aug)

• No bet taken (cap moved, line too high).

• Result: New Zealand won 54-8 and never impressed.

Straight Forecast (Ante-post)

• Bet: England 1st, New Zealand 2nd (1/1, Pokerbet). Still alive.

• Scotland v Fiji – Salford Community Stadium, Salford - Scotland should start firm favs but Fiji can give trouble

• Ireland v Spain – Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton - Watch team news for Ireland, Spain better than expected against New Zealand 

• New Zealand v Japan – Sandy Park, Exeter - Black Ferns will be looking for a more clincial showing 

• Italy v South Africa – York Community Stadium, York - massive game, I imagine Italy will start favourites but SA have a chance 

• France v Brazil – Sandy Park, Exeter - this is going to be brutal for Brazil
