In this Currie Cup betting blog we look back on week 4 and then ahead to week 5 with handicap projections, early betting, team news, weather and finally a bet in each game.
WEEK 5 HANDICAP PROJECTIONS
Posted 17 Aug 21h26
I like to get my handicaps out before the bookies and then compare them. If there is a difference and I think the bookies are wrong then I strike.
Pumas -16.5 v Cavaliers
Sharks +3.5 v WP
Cheetahs +3.5 v Lions
Bulls -15.5 v Griquas
Week 4 Results

Suzuki Griquas 26–17 Hollywoodbets Sharks (Kimberley)
❌ Bet: 3 units over 9.5 tries @ 1/1 – Lost
Never a runner and a poor start to the weekend. Credit to the Sharks who defended for long periods.
Toyota Cheetahs 31–24 DHL Western Province (Bloemfontein)
✅ Bet: 3 units WP +16.5 @ 0.92/1 – Won
WP stayed within 7, comfortably beating the handicap although they had to finish strong to land it..
Airlink Pumas 35–36 Fidelity ADT Lions (Nelspruit)
✅ Bet: 3 units over 61.5 points @ 0.88/1 – Won
Plenty of action in Nelspruit with 71 points scored, well clear of the line.
Sanlam Boland Kavaliers 28–20 Vodacom Bulls (Wellington)
❌ Bet: 3 units Bulls -6.5 @ 10/11 – Lost
Boland sprung another upset, beating the Bulls outright by 8. I must admit this was a forced bet and I probably should of just sat this game out.
