Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday 1st August where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
CARNARVON hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. He set the pace over 1400m at Turffontein last time before getting outrun late. He finished third behind subsequent Grade 1 winner Jan Van Goyen in his penultimate run. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride, and if all went well with his travels, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
EMOYENI has decent form lines to his credit. He showed speed over 1000m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of City Of Love. If not in need of the run, he should pose a threat.
LITTLE CRACKER set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish fourth. He jumps from pole position and may be hard to peg back.
Race 2
GOTTA GO EDDIE rallied late when touched off in his last start over 1200m on this course. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is bred to love the rise to 1600m. He is having his peak run and from a good draw of four, he should shed his maiden tag.
FINE WINE was a tad disappointing over 2000m last time. She finished second in her penultimate outing over this C&D. She has cracked pole position and should give the males a run for their money.
GREEN MILE ran on strongly when second over this C&D last time. If keeping on a straight line, he should go close to winning.
Race 3
GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE set the pace over this distance at Turffontein last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Son Of Raj. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is having his first run on the polytrack. He is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if taking to the surface, he can go one better.
TWO MILES WEST has decent recent form lines to his name. He returns from a 14-week break which may have done him the world of good. The son of Fire Away may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
IMPERIAL POWER was running on too late when second over this C&D last time. He does have work to do at the weights, but is in a good space and cannot be discounted.
Race 4
TEATIME TIPPLE showed some signs of a form return over this C&D last time. He over raced in the early stages, but stayed on to finish fourth. The son of Var is having his peak run and should be cherry- ripe. If Athandiwe Mgudlwa is able to switch him off early, he can notch up his second-career victory.
BRAVE VOYAGER set the pace over 1400m last time and stayed on to finish second behind Beach Palace. Three of his five career victories have come on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
MOHANDAS rallied late after racing wide around the turn over this C&D last time. 4kgs claiming apprentice Damyan Pillay retains the ride. With a bit of luck in running, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 5
MASTER BOMBER is better than his last start over 2000m. He finished 0.55 lengths behind EVENTIDOR in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. He has cracked a handy draw of five and can return to winning ways.
RECORD HIGH ran on powerfully when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. From pole position, he should pose a threat.
EVENTIDOR is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was over 1800m on this course. He has won three times and finished third twice from seven starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved.
Race 6
BOMBERS IN THE SKY set the pace over 1900m on the turf last time before getting outrun late. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Lancaster Bomber is versatile and if suited to this surface, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
PEACE TREATY produced a typical second run after a rest last time. His penultimate run when sixth in the KZN Breeders 1600 was encouraging. He is having his peak run tonight and from his good draw of three, he should feature.
PAPA C was running on when second over 1800m on this course last time. He has cracked a good of two and if jumping on terms, he should run a big race.
Race 7
SPRING TRADITION stayed on when third in his last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that Obsidian has come out and won again since. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He will strip much fitter and if all went well with his travels, he may be the one to beat.
WINTER WAVES was running on when third over 1200m last time. Three of his eight career victories have come over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should fight out the finish.
VOLDEMORT found one too good in the form of Rooster Bradshaw last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
MR HENLEY was doing his best work late when third over 1000m on this course last time. He has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. He will strip much fitter and with the services of Rachel Venniker, he can return to winning ways.
BOURBON WARRIOR set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Future Variety who has come out and won again since. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
RAINBOW REWARD finished 2.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 9
BANK STREET has finished third in both his starts on this course. He was running on over this distance last time. He meets a similar line-up this evening and from his handy draw of five, he can return to winning ways.
TEEREX finished 1.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms tonight. The widest draw is an obvious concern but he should strip much fitter, and can feature.
BLUSH OF DAWN has finished second in her last two starts over this C&D. She is likely to go forward from her good draw of two and may be hard to peg back with 4kgs claiming apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto back in the saddle.
Race 10
SHE‘S A MACHINE was running on when second over this C&D last time. The daughter of New Predator jumps from a good draw of two and gets her sex allowance. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni retains the ride, and she can go one better.
ISIKWISHIKWISHI was outrun late when second over 1400m last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. If Sean Veale is able to switch him off early, he should be the first male past the post.
PREEMPTIVE STRIKE finished 1.5 lengths behind MASTERBLING last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
