Race 1
KOMMETJIE STORM found betting support when third on debut over 1450m on the Inside course. She was green in running that day and would have come on from the outing. The daughter of Elusive Fort returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Tony Peter is no stranger to bringing his horses back to the races fit for their return and she should be the one to beat.
MOUNTAIN HIGH was caught late when second over 1450m on the Inside course last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SUNFIRE stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She is coming along the right way and should earn another cheque.
Race 2
EXCEEDINGLY GLAM made the expected natural improvement when second over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She received a bump leaving the start but stayed on at the business end. She would have come on from the run and in this type of field, she should be the one to beat.
HEMISPHERE raced in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Sales Cape Slipper last time. His debut effort when fourth over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth was fair. He is carded to race on 24 October 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
GREY JET is an unraced son of Danon Platina from the Weichong Marwing stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Jet Start and Greek Miss. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 3
ICHACHA has produced three good runs to date. He took the lead at the 150m mark last time before getting caught late by Ombudsman. This is his first run for the Tyrone Zackey stable. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of seven, he should go one better.
ONE MORE STAR rallied late when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The son of One World will love the rise to 1400m and he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
PIONEER SQUARE finished 3.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The son of Querari would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 4
LUCKY LAD ran on well when second in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint last time. He returns from a 13-week break and is having his first run this season. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. He should be the one to beat.
WILLIAM ROBERTSON produced a typical second run after a rest last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause.
COUSIN CASEY ran second in all four runs during the KZN Champions Season. The son of Vercingetorix is likely to find the 1160m on the sharp side and this outing will bring him on for future races. He will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
HOME OF THE BRAVE won his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He received a six- pound penalty for that victory. He has won twice and finished third once from seven starts on this course. The son of The United States can follow up with another victory.
EAST COAST finished 5.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms this afternoon. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
ARGO ALLEY is a winner of his last two starts. His record over this distance is a slight concern but he is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 6
PISTOL PETE‘S last start in the Listed LHKIR In December Umngeni Handicap can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts on this course. Gavin Lerena is riding at the top of his game and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
WAHEED stayed on when sixth in the Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes. The drop to 1100m should not pose a concern as he has won over 1200m previously. The son of Time Thief has ability and merits healthy respect.
RAINBOW REWARD has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. The son of Rafeef should be the first older horse past the post.
Race 7
MASTERSHIP found one too good in the form of Barbaresco last time. He has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Master Of My Fate will strip a much fitter horse today and with just 55kgs on his back, he should return to winning ways.
GREETING MY MASTER has good recent form lines on the Highveld. It must be noted that Argo Alley has come out and won again since. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
MASTER CHRISTMAS ran on well when second over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be competitive.
Race 8
VJ‘S ANGEL had to overcome the widest draw in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring F & M Challenge last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She has won twice from three starts on this course. HILLARY STEP has shown signs of needing her last two outings. She has won twice from four starts on this course. On best form shown, she would not be a shock winner.
Race 9
HEATHER‘S BOY was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1450m on the Inside course. He was slow into stride but finished off his race strongly. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Rafeef takes on stronger but he could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
LAUGHING WILLIAM stayed on when third over 1400m at the Vaal last time. He takes a slight drop in class and is one of the leading contenders.

Race 10

BOOM BOOM may not have seen out the 2000m last time. She will enjoy the drop back to 1600m and on best form shown, she should fight out the finish.
PEARL IN HER CROWN followed up her maiden victory with a creditable third-place finish over 1400m at the Vaal. She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back
