Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday 27th October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
LIONS EYE showed good improvement in his first run for the Stuart Ferrie stable. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Silvano would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be the one to beat.
BRING THE MAGIC stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. From his good draw of three, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
CATAVAR ran a fair race when third over 1100m on this course last time. The blinkers remain fitted and he can earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 2
WHEREVERILAYMYHAT cost himself winning last time as he hung badly towards the outside in the final 300m. Athandiwe Mgudlwa is likely to take him to the front once again and if able to keep him on a straight line, the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
UZWANO finished 1.85 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He lost a length leaving the start but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Ideal World would have gained from the experience and he should make the natural improvement.
ONE SCOTCH has produced three good runs to date. He raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. With a bit of luck in running, he should be right there at the finish.
Race 3
WORLD OF OUR OWN produced an encouraging debut effort when third over this C&D. He lost two lengths leaving the start, understandably raced green but caught the eye in the closing stages. The son of One World would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
TOP GUN showed good improvement when second over 1200m on this course last time. He is having his peak run today and if repeating that effort, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
MEERKAT MOON‘S last two starts have been fair. The son of Willow Magic is a progressive type and it would not be a shock to see him in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 4
ROLLO THE VIKING has shown good improvement in his last two starts on this course. He raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of What A Winter tries the 2300m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can shed his maiden tag.
NEW FRONTIER set the pace over 2000m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Rastignac. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies which will assist his cause. He is likely to race on the speed from the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.
RAINBOW OF ROSES raced wide around the turn over this C&D last time but stayed on to finish third. She jumps from a midfield draw of five and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
CAPTAIN OLIVER produced a promising debut effort over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He had to overcome a wide draw and the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Potala Palace would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
STAR OF THE FUTURE found one too good in the form of Barry Du Grond last time. He takes a step up in distance and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be competitive.
BRAVE BOMBER showed good improvement when second over 1900m on the polytrack last time. If confirming that effort, he should feature. He is carded to race on 23 October 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 6
This is a competitive Merit Rated 80 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is EL DANTE from the MJ Odendaal stable. He finished 0.6 lengths behind TYRCONNELL last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the awkward draw and he may be hard to peg back.
TYRCONNELL produced a good comeback run when second over this C&D last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in running, he should fight out the finish.
NOCTURNAL FLIGHT fought hard when fourth over 1800m on the polytrack last time. He drops back in class and if everything goes according to plan, he should be right there.
Race 7
SPIRIT OF LEVANA is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes. She returns from a 13-week break and is making her seasonal debut. The daughter of Fire Away receives her sex allowance and she should give the males a run for their money.
ARTIST‘S MODEL was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody is a progressive type and he can follow up.
ACTOR won a game race over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should give a good account of himself.
Race 8
SHE‘S A MACHINE moved up well in the Non-Black Type Beach Beauty Mile last time and stayed on to finish third. She was reported to have cast a shoe in running that day. The daughter of New Predator has ability and back in Handicap Company, she should take a power of beating.
GORGEOUS GIRL showed signs of needing her last start over this C&D. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. On best form shown, she should be the one to fill the exacta spot.
TOMYRIS has finished third in her last three starts. She has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this distance. From pole position, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 9
WARRIOR OF ROYALTY took on a competitive field over 1100m on this course last time. He won a good race over 1100m on the polytrack in his penultimate run. The son of Pathfork returns to Handicap Company and he should be hard to peg back.
COLD SHINE finished 2.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. He is at his best over this distance at this stage of his career.
RUGGER LOVER has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from eight starts over this distance. She always gives of her best and should give the males a run for their money
