The daughter of The United States is a progressive type and unless one of the first timers is above average, she should be the one to beat.

MS SAKURA is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. She is related to multiple Grade 1 winner Summer Pudding. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

WINTER BLESSING ran a fair race over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Her penultimate run when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville catches the eye. If finding the form of that outing, she should be involved.

Race 2

HAWKSDALE hails from the visiting Candice Dawson stable. She ran an encouraging race on debut over 1000m at Turffontein. She was green in running and had to be steadied in the latter stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Erik The Red would have gained from the experience and if not too green around the turn, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

VANAKKAM should have finished closer to Green Diamond in the Grade 3 TAB Protea Stakes as she hung inwards throughout. The daughter of Vercingetorix is back in Maiden Company and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she is one of the leading contenders.

GOLDEN OPERATOR is an unraced son of Declarationofpeace from the Sean Tarry yard with Craig Zackey up. He is related to three-time winner Silver Spectrum. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

Race 3

XENOPHON produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He took time to find his feet, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1400m. Richard Fourie retains the ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

BRUH ran a fair race on debut over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race suggests that he will love the extra 200m on offer. Andrew Fortune keeps faith in the ride and he should make the natural progression.

RUN FOREST RUN showed very good improvement when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse and if jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

DESTINY OF FIRE from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable is the tentative first selection. She finished off her race well after a slow start in the Listed The Independent On Saturday Insider East Coast Cup last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. If jumping on terms, she should give the males a run for their money.

TROIS TROIS QUATRE is the stable companion of the top choice. He won a game race over 2000m on the polytrack last time. Two of his five career victories have come over this distance and he merits healthy respect.

TOBACCONIST found plenty of betting support when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. The son of Flower Alley will love the rise to 1800m. He takes a rise in class, but is better than his rating suggests and he can follow up.

Race 5

SHOOT THE RAPIDS should have finished closer to Selukwe in the Grade 3 WSB 1900 last time. He had to be steadied at the 200m mark that day. The son of Erupt won the Non-Black Type WSB Highland Night Cup over this distance in his penultimate run. It is a big plus that Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and from his good draw of two, he may be the one to beat.

FUTURE SWING is better than his comeback run in the Grade 3 WSB 1900. He lost a length leaving the start, over raced in the early stages and hung in the straight. He would have come on from the run and on best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

MARAUDING HORDE tried hard when second in the Grade 2 TAB Colorado King Stakes last time. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this distance. The son of Vercingetorix is entered for the 2025 Hollywoodbets Durban July. Callan Murray rides and the combination merit healthy respect.

 

 

Race 6

LITTLE SUZIE caught the eye when 2.75 lengths behind Mon Petit Cherie in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas last time. She was last turning for home and finished off her race strongly. Her mother, Oh Susanna won this race in 2018. She should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and from her good draw of four, she may be the one to cause the upset.

GIVE ME EVERYTHING did her best work late when having to overcome the widest draw in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 2000m. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should fight out the finish.

REGENERATION was not disgraced when fifth in the race referred to above. She lost a length leaving the start, but found herself in a good position and she stayed on at the finish. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, she would not be a shock winner.

Race 7

EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN is the best bet on the programme. He stayed on strongly when second in the Grade 2 WSB Guineas last time. The son of Lancaster Bomber won his previous two starts over this distance, both of which were Grade 1 races. He will strip a much fitter horse and should be too good for this field.

CONFEDERATE has top consistent form lines to his credit. He won a gutsy race in the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic last time. It must be noted that the horses that finished second and third have both come out and won Grade 1 races since. The son of Fire Away should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and if fit, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

SPUMANTE DOLCE tried hard when second in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix steps up to 2000m and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, she should run a big race.

Race 8

DISTING is much better than her last start in the Grade 2 WSB Fillies Guineas. Her penultimate run when fourth in the Grade 3 Dennis Drier Poinsettia Stakes catches the eye. The daughter of Global View drops back in class and may be the one to side with.

SOHOT SOWHAT moved up like a winner over 1400m last time, but was caught late by Bevies Delight. The daughter of Soqrat has won twice from three starts over this distance. She is drawn wide in barrier 10, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

NIGHT VIGIL hails from the visiting Stuart Pettigrew stable. She has been a tad disappointing in her last two starts. On best form shown, it would be no surprise to see her in the winner’s enclosure.

Race 9

HONOR OF KINGS is better than his last start over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Summer Course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Vercingetorix won his only attempt over this distance. Richard Fourie is booked to ride on his return and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

TURBO POWER stayed on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. Two of his three career victories have come over this distance. He will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders.

DAPPER stayed on when third over 1600m last time. He finished 1.45 lengths behind REAL WAR in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.

Race 10

TARA STAR fought hard for her last victory over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Just As Well is likely to have her own way in front from barrier four and she can follow up with another victory.

VIRGIN RIVER has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She showed speed over 1000m last time before getting outrun late by Cosmic Queen. If all went well with her travels, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

MIA’S ATHENA produced an encouraging comeback run when fifth over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. She will strip much fitter and with Hollywood Racing-retained Jockey Sean Veale, she should have good improvement to come
