It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Erik The Red would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

DARLINGBUDSOFMAY was in need of her debut effort over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that Anotherdanceforme is still unbeaten. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she changed stables. If not in need of the run, she can fill the exacta spot.

SILVAN MISTRESS drifted in the betting market when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. Her best career effort has come over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and she can show.

RACE 2

WILD APPLAUSE hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the final 300m. She finished under a length behind the winner over this distance in her penultimate run. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and if putting her mind on the task at hand, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

STAR OF ELENA made the expected natural improvement when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CLEVER CANDY stayed on over this distance on the polytrack last time. She steps onto the turf track which may suit her well. The daughter of Heavenly Blue has scope and she cannot be ignored.

RACE 3

ROYAL KINGDOM was a beaten odds-on favourite last time. He was reported to have a wound on his frog and a sore back. The son of William Longsword returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. He looks to have ability and if not in need of the run, he should be too good for this field.

ELUSIVE BLACK returns from a lengthy 32-week break and he is having his first run for the Gavin Smith stable. The son of Elusive Fort has scope and if not in need of the run, he should pose a threat.

GREEN OKRA returns from a 14-week break, during which time he changed stables. Richard Fourie rides on his local debut and there should be good improvement to come.

RACE 4

HUGSANDHIGHFIVES finished strongly when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. That was her first outing after 24 weeks off the track and she would have come on from the run. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is in a good space and she can follow up.

SMASHING ran on well when third over 1000m on this course last time. She finished 3 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

KILMONIVAIG ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She drops back in class and must be included in all bets.

 

 

RACE 5

SPEED RACER showed good improvement in his local debut effort over 1200m on the polytrack. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Mercantour. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. If confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.

ANUSCHKA’S WORLD has consistent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. Apprentice Nirvan Nastili takes the 2.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause.

CLIFF TOP finished 3 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 6

MERCANTOUR was an easy winner of his last start over 1200m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Var is at his best over shorter, but he is the class horse in this race and can follow up with another victory.

FIREALLEY is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Glenlair Trophy. It must be noted that the horses that finished second and third that day have come out and won since. On his previous form, he should be competitive.

SILVER FALCON is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. Three of his eight career victories have come over this distance. If all went well with his travels, he should be involved at the finish.

RACE 7

GIMME’S LASSIE ran on strongly after a slow start to win her last outing over 1200m, on this course. The removal of the blinkers did the trick on the daughter of Gimmethegreenlight. She has finished second twice and third once from five starts over this distance. If getting away to a clean start, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure once again.

THREE ROCKS is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. If putting her best foot forward, she should fight out the finish.

TRIP TO MAPUTO produced a strong finish when winning her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She finished second in her only attempt on this course. Luyolo Mxothwa retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

RACE 8

VOLARE E MAMBO has had no luck when it comes to barrier positions. She has faced strong opposition in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance on the polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle finished third in her only C&D attempt. She drops in class, is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

IN THE GREEN ZONE won a game race in her last outing over this C&D. The blinkers have been removed as she took a keen hold that day. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.

COURAGEOUS finished 2.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned
