Race 1

TOP DIVISION is an unraced son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. His mother, Mighty High was a Grade 1 winner over 1200m. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

MASTER’S LADY ran a good race on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. She took time to find her feet, but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the first raced runner past the post.

BUMPS LAST GRIND returns from a lengthy 72-week break and is having his first run for Fanie Bronkhorst. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

HAWKSDALE produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance on the Standside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Erik The Red would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.

SUMMER WINTER raced from just off the pace over 1000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Sunset Warrior. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BILINGUAL ran a good race when third over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has finished second over this C&D previously. The daughter of Willow Magic can finish in the placings.

Race 3

WAITING ON CHARLIE from the Candice Dawson stable. She was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Master Of My Fate carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and from her good draw of four, she may be the one to side with.

MISS TAKES should have finished closer last time as he hung outwards in the final 300m. He finished third in his penultimate run over this C&D. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

SASHA LEE was a beaten favourite in her last start over 1300m. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she can finish in the money. She is carded to race on 29 May 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 4

TO THE RESCUE ran a good race when second over 2400m on the Standside course last time. He raced from a handy position before getting outrun late by Vesuvio. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is in a good space and he can go one better.

DOUGLAS DRAGON finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

MO MENT finished 1.6 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D and cannot be ignored.

Race 5

TEO TORRIATTE stayed on when third over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from ten starts over this distance. She drops in class and with the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto, she may be the one to beat.

PATCHES OF GREY finished 1.1 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

LADY NOIR was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over 1600m at the Vaal last time. She tries further and the blinkers have been removed. The daughter of Capetown Noir has scope and she should be up to the task at hand.

Race 6

KUDZU ran a fair race against stronger over 1800m at the Vaal last time. He won his penultimate run over this C&D. The son of Flower Alley jumps from pole position and with the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew, he can notch up his third-career victory.

ESPINOZA followed up his maiden victory with an equally impressive win over 1200m on this course. He tries the 1600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can bring up the hat-trick.

OBSIDIAN followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1400m on the Standside course. He takes on stronger but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 7

LADY SABRINA ran a good race when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She raced from a handy position, moved up before getting caught late by Accept Cookies. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. She will strip much fitter and should give the males a run for their money.

UNSOLVED RIDDLE kept finding when winning his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. The removal of the blinkers did the trick. He is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

FLAG BEARER was outrun late when third over 2400m last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is versatile and cannot be ignored.

Race 8

GREGARIOUS was an easy winner of her last start over 1450m on this course. She quickened up well and drew clear with ease. The daughter of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the rise to 1600m and she can follow up.

WARNING SOUND finished 4.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She would have come on from that outing and should strip much fitter.

RATTLE BAG finished 4.55 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 9

NKANDLA GOLD stayed on when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. Apprentice Jacey Botes takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause. With a bit of luck in running, he can notch up his fourth-career victory.

PHANTOM EXPRESS finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

MICKE’S BOMB finished 0.05 lengths behind CAPTAIN SELVIE last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
