DARLINGBUDSOFMAY finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The daughter of Erik The Red has changed stables since that outing. She can improve to finish in the placings.

RACE 2

MR FOX has moderate Western Cape form lines to his name. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. The son of Canford Cliffs is having his first run for the Alan Greeff stable. He has scope and can improve to win if settled into his new surroundings.

HOUSE OF SUSSEX tried hard when second over 1000m on this course last time. If repeating that effort in this field, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

FIZZLY BUBBLY finished 4 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. He will enjoy racing over 1200m and can finish in the placings.

RACE 3

GENTEEL stayed on strongly when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Greenlight Legend has come out and won with ease since. The daughter of Quasillo is in a good space and she can go one better.

ONO NO KOMACHI was her own worst enemy over 2200m last time as she over raced in the early stages. The drop back to the mile should suit her well. If jumping on terms, she should fight out the finish.

DANCING IN WINTER stayed on when third over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter will love the rise to 1600m and she should be at peak fitness. From pole position, she should have a say.

RACE 4

PYROMANIAC should have finished closer to the winner last time as he received a bump at the 1100m mark. The manner in which he stayed on in the straight was encouraging. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride from a good draw of two which is a big plus. With a bit of luck in running, he can cause an upset.

BRENDEN JAMES finished 0.25 lengths behind CHEEKY LADDIE last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should pose a threat.

HOLOCENE finished 0.5 lengths behind CHEEKY LADDIE in the race referred to above. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. He won his penultimate start over this C&D with ease. He is drawn widest of all but Richard Fourie should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

 

 

RACE 5

NOTHINGELSEMATTERS stayed on when fifth over 1900m on this course. He finished 2.25 lengths behind SLAINTE MHATH in his penultimate run. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SLAINTE MHATH was an easy winner of his last start over 2400m on this course. The blinkers and tongue-tie have done the trick. He jumps from pole position and merits healthy respect.

HAARLEM got up late when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. The son of Fire Away should love the rise to 2000m. He takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

KINGDUNDEE was super-impressive when winning his comeback run over 1000m on this course. He stumbled leaving the start and cast a shoe in running. Despite all of that, he won with ease. The son of The United States has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He looks to have class about him and may be the one to beat.

FAIRY KNIGHT is a winner of his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie retains the ride and he can bring up the hat-trick.

KHAYA’S HOPE fought hard for his last victory over 1400m on this track. He has won twice, finished second twice and third three times from eight starts over this C&D. He is in a good space and must be considered.

RACE 7

MY BEST SHOT has won his last three starts with ease. Despite losing a length leaving the start last time, he ran on well to get the better of Golden Link. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Fire Away is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating.

SAKURAJIMA finished 4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
