RACE 1

OLIVE OYL has good form lines to her name. She ran on and tried hard when second over 1400m on the turf last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the drop back to 1200m. If taking to the polytrack, she can go one better. 

CASINO KING hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He is better than his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. His penultimate run when fourth over 1000m catches the eye. If finding the form of that run, he should pose a massive threat. 

LARIUS LACUS is having his first run for the Cliffie Miller stable. His form in KwaZulu-Natal was moderate. He jumps from pole position and if settled into his new surroundings, he should have good improvement to come.

RACE 2

PRINCE ANTONIO showed good improvement in his first run for the Alan Greeff stable. He raced from a handy position but found one too good in the form of Alex Miller who was making her local debut. He would have come on from the outing and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he may be the one to beat. 

THE ROARING ROCK‘S last two starts have been fair. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was unbalanced at the 150m mark. If taking to the polytrack, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

BLIND FAITH returns from a 21-week break and is having her first run for Juan Nel. She is at her best over further but if not in need of the run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 3

GENTEEL lacked a finish when fourth over this C&D last time. Her penultimate run when third under Richard Fourie was encouraging. She has finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back. 

PARDON ME found one too good in the form of Henry’s Hedge over 2000m on the turf last time. The fitting of the blinkers seems to have done the trick. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

GLOBAL DRUMBEAT‘S last three starts on this course have been fair. He jumps from an awkward draw of eight and with luck in running, he can earn another cheque. 

RACE 4

ICE CAP cost herself winning last time as she hung outwards in the closing stages. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Gold Standard is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If keeping on a straight line, she can notch up her second-career victory. 

COLORAMA stayed on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. She finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

TAKE YOUR TIME was outrun late by stable companion Three Cheers who has come out and won again since. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Jacey Botes which will assist her cause. With luck in running, she can feature. 

 

 

RACE 5

ROYAL CITY GIRL ran a fair race when third over 1400m in the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Royal Mo steps up to 1600m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back. 

ABOVE THE HORIZON followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1200m on the turf. The son of Horizon has scope and if suited to 1600m, he should be the first male past the post. 

GREEN OKRA was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. He takes on stronger, but is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 6

MR FOX followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1900m on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He takes on stronger but may still be ahead of the handicapper, and can bring up the hat-trick. 

SLAINTE MHATH found one too good in the form of Heemstede last time. He has finished second once and third twice from four starts over this C&D. The son of Duke Of Marmalade may be the horse to complete the exacta. 

ROLL OF THE DICE finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

RACE 7

MERCANTOUR won a good race in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1400 last time. He showed a good turn of foot and quickened away from the opposition. The son of Var is the class horse in this race. He is drawn widest of all but Richard Fourie knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. 

GOLDEN LINK finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. 

CHAMPONELLE is unbeaten from three starts on this course. He set the pace over this distance last time and found extra where it matters most. The son of Querari takes a big rise in class, but he has ability and should run an honest race.

RACE 8

PRISCILLA MAISEY was running on when fourth over 1200m in the Non-Black Type East Cape Breeders Stakes last time. That was her first outing for the Juan Nel stable. She has cracked a good draw of three and if taking to the polytrack, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

ARTICUNO has good recent form lines to her name. She challenged strongly over 1000m last time but found one too good in the form of Sweetie Darling who has come out and won again since. She is ideally suited to this course and merits healthy respect. 

PROJECT RUNWAY finished 2 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around
