RACE 1

THE ROARING ROCK showed improvement when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. This is his first run for Alan Greeff and he gets the tongue-tie fitted. S’manga Khumalo rides and in this field, he can go one better. 

AMERICAN EAGLE was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. He finished 1.25 lengths behind AWAY WITH RED that day. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

AWAY WITH RED showed pace in a work riders race over 1000m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Ruby Claire. Stable Jockey Luyolo Mxothwa steps into the saddle and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 2

PYRO EDITION has shown good improvement since arriving in the Eastern Cape. He cost himself winning last time as he hung inwards and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. The son of Erupt should enjoy the step up to 1600m. He is having his peak run and from barrier three, he can shed his maiden tag. 

BOMBER BAY has finished third in his last two starts over this distance on the polytrack. He is back on the turf and is one of the leading contenders. 

GLOBAL DRUMBEAT has fair recent form lines to his name. He stayed on when fourth over this distance on the polytrack last time. Despite his awkward draw of eight, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

RACE 3

BIRD ON A WING ran a creditable race when fourth over this distance on the polytrack last time. Despite racing wide around the turn, she stayed on at the finish. The tongue-tie remains fitted and with Craig Zackey in the saddle, she should go close. 

FANTASY GIRL tried hard when second over 1600m on the polytrack last time. The daughter of Global View finished third in her only C&D attempt. Kendall Minnie retains the ride, and she should be competitive. 

AMANATTO finished 3.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

RACE 4

CHRONICLESOFNANIA stayed on at the finish in her comeback run over 1600m on the polytrack. Two of her three career victories have come on this course. The 6yo mare has dropped in the ratings and should strip much fitter. From her good draw of two, she should give the males a run for their money. 

ABOVE THE HORIZON showed good guts when winning his last start over 1600m on the polytrack. He won his maiden over this distance. The son of Horizon is likely to race on the speed from his good draw of four and may be hard to peg back. 

GOLDEN GREY won his maiden over 1600m on the polytrack last time. He finished second in his penultimate outing over this C&D. He would have gained in confidence and with a bit of luck from the wide draw, he would not be a shock winner.

RACE 5

GIMME MORE TIME stayed on at the finish when fourth over 1800m on this course last time. He won a good race in his penultimate outing. Apprentice Savanna Valjalo takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and can notch up his fifth- career victory. 

MAKHACHEV finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. 

PAINITE finished 1.85 lengths behind GIMME MORE TIME in the race referred to above. The saddle was reported to have slipped in running that day. He has cracked a good draw of two and cannot be discounted.

Race 6

GIMME‘S LADDIE is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1400 as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. He returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. Two of his five career victories have come over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways. 

USA‘S HOPE was in need of his last start over 1400m on the polytrack. He would have come on from the run and is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle. On best form shown, he should be competitive. 

DUBAI HILLS has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this distance. He is at his best on the polytrack, but is holding form well and merits healthy respect. 

RACE 7

SMASHING has good recent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position over this distance on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Marshmallow. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts on this course. The daughter of Rafeef may be the horse to side with. 

BENEATH THE MOON finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. 

THREAD OF LIFE ran a good race when second over 1100m on the polytrack last time. She drops in class and must be included in all bets. 

RACE 8

ROUGAROUIN showed very good improvement when second in his local debut over 1200m on the polytrack. He may have cost himself winning that day as he hung inwards in the final 250m. The son of Horizon would have come on from the run and if confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better. 

MUNCHKIN is better than his last start over 1200m on the polytrack. His form prior to that outing on the turf was fair. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

BUFFALO BILL made the expected natural improvement when winning his last start over this C&D. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
