Race 1 

LADY BLUNT ran a decent race in her local debut over 1400m at Turffontein. She stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Heavenly Good. She would have come on from the run and with the services of Tom Lukhele, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

HOLLYWOOD MADAM stayed on when third over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of What A Winter has scope and she is one of the leading contenders. 

MADAME POMPADOUR is still a maiden after 26 starts. She stayed on when second over 1400m last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this distance. If repeating her last outing, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

Race 2

WINDS OF GRACE stayed on when second over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride, and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most. 

DONDOYAKI stayed on when third over 1000m at Turffontein last time. She steps up to 1500m and the blinkers have been removed. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

GREENLIGHT RACER‘S last three starts have been fair. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should be the first male past the post.

Race 3

DEAL MAKER has finished second in both her efforts in South Africa. She showed speed over this C&D last time, but was caught late by Time For Charity. The daughter of Profitable is having her peak run and the blinkers will keep her mind on the task at hand. She should be the one to beat with in-form Chad Little in the saddle. 

FAITHFUL NEO is the stable companion of the top choice. She stayed on when fourth over this distance at Turffontein last time. The daughter of Horizon is a solid back-up for the yard. 

THE NAVY LARK‘S last three starts have been fair. She has won twice, finished second once and third three times from ten starts over this C&D. She is carded to race on 07 August 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 4

SYLVAN WARRIOR rallied late when beaten under a length in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes last time. His last victory came on this course. The son of Querari has ability and despite carrying top weight, he should be too good for this field. 

FULLY LOADED took the lead at the 200m mark last time before getting outrun late by Chyavana. He has won twice and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

HEMISPHERE ran a good race when second over 1000m at Turffontein last time. The blinkers seem to have had the desired effect. He is in a good space and from pole position, he should be competitive.

Race 5

OPEN HIGHWAY ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from six starts on this course. He meets a similar line-up and with luck in running, he can follow up with another victory. 

GUERILLA WARFARE set the pace over 1400m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Obsidian. If repeating that effort in this field, he should be hard to peg back. 

KING OF NUMBERS finished 1.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

 

 

Race 6

OBSIDIAN has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He won a game race over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this trip. The son of Erupt takes on stronger but he may be ahead of the handicapper and carries a handy galloping mass of 55kgs. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and he can bring up the hat-trick. 

SOLDIER‘S EYE is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Gold Bracelet. Three of her four career victories have come over this distance. From her good draw of two, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. 

JURY‘S OUT ran a good race when third over this distance at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his peak run today and must be considered. 

Race 7

MISS HANNIGAN is better than her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She finished third in both her efforts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and from pole position, she can go close. 

KISSHOTEN has good recent form lines to her name. She finished 0.2 lengths behind TWOSTEP QUEEN last time. She is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. 

LAST CAR TO PASS finished 0.8 lengths behind TWOSTEP QUEEN in the race referred to above. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. 

Race 8

KISSING MACHINE showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1800m at Turffontein. She jumped inwards leaving the start and finished off her race strongly. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. From her good draw of four, she may be the one to beat. 

BOOM BOOM finished 0.65 lengths behind WAY TO BURN last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is carded to race on 07 August 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored. 

WAY TO BURN‘S last two starts have been fair. She has won once, finished second once and third once from six starts over this trip. Calvin Habib is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 9

LIBECCIO ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position but found one too good in the form of After Hours. He has dropped to a competitive rating and with a bit of luck in running, he can go one better. 

SAIL THE SKY finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. 

CAN‘T CATCH ME set the pace over this C&D last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Northern Kitten. She is in a good space and if getting her own way in front, she may be hard to peg back
