RACE 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SOMBREUIL from the Kelly Mitchley stable. Her last start is best ignored as she was reported to be distressed. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Her effort when second over this C&D three runs ago, catches the eye. Muzi Yeni rides and if putting her best foot forward, she should go close. 

TANZANITE showed some signs of needing her debut effort over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement. 

NIGHT IN JAPAN is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. She drops to 1000m and on previous form, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

RACE 2

DIAMOND JIM is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. He is related to three-time winner Address The Nation. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances. 

POP CHART produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He returns from a 26-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Fire Away has plenty of scope and is one of the leading contenders. 

CASINO KING stayed on when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. He should enjoy racing on the turf and if jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

RACE 3

EL CAPITAN is having his first outing for the Cliffie Miller stable. He over raced in his last two starts in KwaZulu-Natal. The son of Rafeef finished second in his only attempt over this distance. If settled into his new surroundings, he can shed his maiden tag. 

ACTION AMERICA has shown good improvement in each of his efforts to date. He was running on when second over 1600m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The gelding may have been what he needed and the fitting of the blinkers should keep his mind on the task at hand. 

PIBE DE ORO tried hard when touched off in his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He should enjoy racing on this track and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. 

RACE 4

STRATHCLYDE is better than his last start over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has won three times, finished second once and third once from eight starts over this distance. He is having his first run for Alan Greeff and if settled into his new surroundings, he may be the horse to beat. 

LANCIAFIAMME has good recent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the form of his last race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

ARLU was running on when third in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup. He takes on older but carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs, and should be up to the task at hand. 

RACE 5

STAR OF ELENA is much better than her last start in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup. She won a game race in her penultimate run over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Quasillo looks to have plenty of scope and with Craig Zackey back in the saddle, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

CHERE FOR ME found one too good in the form of Hat Montera last time. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Dookhit which will assist her cause. She has shown signs of a form return and cannot be discounted. 

SUCHALIFE is better than her last start on the polytrack. It must be noted that Epikleros has come out and won again since. She takes a drop in class and would not be a shock winner.

Race 6

FLASH LIGHTNING is better than his recent form suggests. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was switched for running room at the 350m mark and was reported to be coughing. His last victory came over this C&D. Chase Maujean steps into the saddle and he may be able to get the best out of this son of Visionaire. 

GOLDEN GREY followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1400m on this course. He is clearly in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick. 

CHEERFUL CHARLIE B should have finished much closer to the winner last time. He takes a slight drop in class and with a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 7

NORTH STAR was an impressive winner on debut over 1000m on this course. She returns from a 12-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Erik The Red takes on stronger, but she could be anything and can remain unbeaten. 

BUFFALO BILL followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1000m on this course. He was running on too late that day. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody looks to have ability and he should be the first male past the post. 

WISSA‘S ON FIRE is having his first run for the Cliffie Miller stable. He has won once, finished second once and third once from eight starts over this distance. He has dropped in the ratings and would not be a shock winner. 

RACE 8

SWEET AND TRUE is much better than his last start on the polytrack. He tried hard when third over this C&D in his penultimate outing. He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Oratorio is the stable elect with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle and he should be competitive. 

SILVER SURFER stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and Muzi Yeni may be able to get the best out of him. 

EXQUISITE returns from a 19-week break and is having her first run for the Alan Greeff stable. She has been disappointing since winning her maiden. The daughter of Rafeef gets the tongue-tie fitted and improvement is expected
