LIZWILE ILALI was a tad disappointing in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She returns from a 10-week break which may have done her the world of good. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber has scope and she can show improvement.
SHEEZAROCKET ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. She lost two lengths leaving the start and had to be switched at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and can improve.
Race 2
INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. He lost a length leaving the start and finished off his race strongly. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to the mile and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, he should take a power of beating.
VIEW OF THE WORLD has fair form lines to his credit. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies retains the ride and he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
NATIONAL AWARD was in need of his debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of William Longsword will love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
CARE FORGOT followed up her maiden victory with a fair fifth-place finish in the Listed Hollywoodbets Super League Devon Air Stakes. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of The United States will love the rise to the mile and from her good draw of three, she may be the one to beat.
STATE SECRET was an easy winner of her last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The daughter of Act Of War takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
SPRING KISS stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Polytrack last time. She would have come on from the outing and will strip much fitter. She drops back in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 4
EL DANTE produced an encouraging comeback run when fourth over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on well at the finish. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 7-year-old gelding would have come on from the run and may be hard to peg back at the finish.
SELUKWE finished 0.7 lengths behind NOCTURNAL FLIGHT last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
LUCKY DOLLAR finished 1.2 lengths behind NOCTURNAL FLIGHT in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and that may be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. He always gives of his best and should be competitive.
Race 5
PETIT VERDOT ran a fair race when fifth over 1900m on KZN Breeders race day. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of What A Winter will love the extra 100m on offer. She has dropped in the ratings and from pole position, she may be the one to cause the upset.
ESCAPOLOGIST moved up well when second in her last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won on this course previously. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ESCAPE ARTIST finished 0.6 lengths behind WOODLAND GLADE last time. She is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Keagan de Melo is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and she may be hard to peg back.
Race 6
SPELLING BEE won a good race in his last start over 1600m on this course. The drop to 1400m is no concern as he won his only attempt over this C&D. Keagan de Melo is booked to ride and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
THE SHEPHERD is better than his last start. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is unbeaten from two starts over this distance and with luck from the widest draw, he can keep that record intact.
WILLIAM RUFUS ran a fair race over 1200m on the Polytrack last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Three of his four career victories have come over this distance and the 5yo gelding merits healthy respect.
Race 7
GORGEOUS GUY finished 0.05 lengths behind RAFA’S BOY last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. He has the speed to overcome the wide draw and may be hard to peg back.
RAFA’S BOY ran a good race when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won his only attempt over this C&D and is one of the leading contenders.
ROSH KEDESH’S last three starts have been good. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners. Keagan de Melo may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
Race 8
LUCRATIVE caught the eye when winning on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Craig Zackey had her settled at the rear of the field and the manner in which she finished off her race was impressive. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but she looks to be above average and can remain unbeaten.
GREY FANTACY ran a fair race when third in the Grade 3 tabGOLD Strelitzia Stakes last time. She returns from a 14-week break during which time she would have strengthened up. She is the stable elect with Tristan Godden in the saddle and is one of the leading contenders.
RUGGER LOVER has good consistent form lines to her credit. If keeping on a straight line, she should be involved in the fight to the finish
