Race 1
FAR BEYOND produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. She lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Futura would have come on from the run and if jumping on terms, she can go close.
QUEEN’S PACT is better than her last start over 1160m on this course. Her penultimate run when second over this distance, catches the eye. If finding the form of that outing, she should pose a threat.
MYSTICAL MISS is an unraced daughter of Rafeef from the Sean Tarry stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. She is related to six-time winner Mufasa. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
SCORPIO ran a fair race on debut over 800m on this course. He should have finished closer as he hung inwards throughout. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returns from a 20-week break, during which time he was gelded. He should make the natural improvement and he is a big runner.
OPERA FAN has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. She was running on over 1100m on this course last time. The daughter of Horizon is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders.
ONE TIGER is an unraced son of One World from the Mike and Adam Azzie stable with Craig Zackey up. He is related to seven-time winner Meridius. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
Race 3
READ ALL ABOUT IT was a tad disappointing in the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He showed ability on debut and if seeing out the 1400m, he can return to winning ways.
CRYSTAL GROVE ran a fair race over 1160m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of The United States is one of the leading contenders.
SISTER GOLDEN HAIR was an easy winner of her last start over 1450m on the Inside course. The daughter of Captain Of All is a progressive type and she cannot be ignored.
Race 4
TO THE RESCUE finished 2.4 lengths behind ROMEO’S MAGIC last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is likely to race on the speed and he has no stamina issues. From his good draw of two, he may be hard to peg back.
ROMEO’S MAGIC won his last start over 2400m well. The son of Elusive Fort steps up to 2850m and if seeing out the extra distance, he can follow up with another victory.
ROSY LEMON has fair recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She finished 4.1 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 5
DARK SILVER’S last two starts have been good. He stayed on when second over this distance on the Inside course last time. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia which will assist his cause. The son of Heavenly Blue can return to winning ways.
DJ JUNIOR has good form lines to his credit. The 6yo gelding should have no issues with the rise to 2000m and he can feature.
BIRTHRIGHT is better than his last start over this C&D. He drops back in class and gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice. He is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 6
GREAT NOTION has good consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson takes the 4kgs off her back. She drops back in class and with luck in running, she may be the one to beat.
PAUL REVERE was doing his best work late in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He is back in Handicap Company and should be the first male past the post.
KING OF NUMBERS stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He takes a slight drop in class and cannot be discounted.
Race 7
NIGHT BOMBER set the pace over this C&D last time before tiring late to finish third. The son of Lancaster Bomber is back in Handicap Company. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be the one to beat.
CHOISAANADA is better than his last start in the Grade 2 TAB Gauteng Guineas. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Querari has ability and if not in need of the run, he would not be a shock winner.
MAX THE MAGICIAN is better than his last start over 1160m. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
ADDRESS THE NATION ran a fair race over 1200m on the Inside course last time. He won his penultimate outing over this distance in the boardroom. The son of One World has in and out form, but if putting his best foot forward, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
WARM WINTER NITE was an easy winner of his last start over 1160m on this course. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
BOURBON RESERVE followed up his maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back
