MIZZEN SWORD tried hard when second over 1200m on the Classic course last time. If keeping on a straight line, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
TRIP TO STATES finished 4.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
GREEN EXTREME stayed on when second over 1000m on the Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She has scope and in this field, may be the one to beat.
TRAIL RUNNER’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She is coming along the right way and is one of the leading contenders.
RED AMBER showed good improvement when second over this distance on the Classic course last time. She challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Miss Novax. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and she would not be a shock winner.
Race 3
GREEN STREET set the pace over this distance at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Great Notion. She returns from a 12-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, she can go one better.
ICHACHA has been costly to follow. He returns from a 19-week break which may have done him the world of good. If jumping on terms, he should be the first male past the post.
CRESCENDO returns from a 17-week break, during which time he was gelded. He would have gained from his debut experience and should make the natural improvement.
Race 4
NKWENKWEZI raced from a handy position over 1600m at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of The Mightiest. The daughter of Erupt will love the rise to 1700m. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and she may be the horse to side with.
ARTIC SILVER stayed on when fourth over 1400m at Turffontein last time. She finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice that day. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
CAPE SAFFRON is lightly raced with decent form lines to her credit. The manner in which she finished off her last outing suggests that she will love the rise to 1700m. She jumps from pole position and can earn another cheque.
Race 5
THE ULTIMATE KING has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He jumped inwards leaving the start last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is a progressive type and should be the one to beat.
CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD raced from a handy position over 2000m last time and stayed on to finish third. He gets the services of Nirvan Nastili who takes the 2.5kgs off his back. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FUTURE KING ran a fair race over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He is coming along the right way and should have no issues with the rise to 1700m. He is carded to race on 15 April 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 6
DOUGLAS DRAGON took on stronger in his last start over 2000m at Turffontein. It must be noted that Tamarisk Tree has come out and won again since. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. If not in need of this outing, he can notch up his third-career victory.
WILLOW EXPRESS’ last three starts have been decent. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He should be involved in the fight to the finish.
FULLY LOADED is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Piere Strydom may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.
Race 7
BOB’S YOUR UNCLE rallied late when second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. He carries another handy galloping mass and can go one better.
ZUZAN won a good race in his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. He has won twice and finished third once from seven starts on this course. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
THE AFRICA HOUSE found one too good in the form of Buffalo Storm Cody last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this distance. He should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 8
KINDRED HEART won a good race in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She raced from just off the pace, found a good kick and kept all challengers at bay. She takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
NIGHT VIGIL showed good speed when winning her last start in the Non-Black Type Bauhinia Handicap. The daughter of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.
BOSUM BUDDY was running on when third over 1000m last time. She has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this distance. She would not be a shock winner.

EXCEEDINGLY GLAM lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If jumping on terms, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
ALABAMA ANNA had excuses in her last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. She has won twice and finished third once from eight starts over this C&D. If switching off early, she should pose a threat.

HONG KONG was running on when second over this distance on the Classic course last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Andrew Fortune is booked to ride and she can go one better.
ONE PARTY took the lead at the 100m mark last time before getting caught in the shadow of the post by Blizzard Snow. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and she should fight out the finish.
