Race 1

CATCH A PENNY ran a good race on debut over 1000m on this course. She was green in running but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1250m and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat. 

PINK PIGEON has finished second in both her efforts to date. She tried hard over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of October Fest. With a bit of luck in running, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. 

BEACH QUEEN ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. She will be at her best over further but can improve to finish in the placings. 

Race 2

RAFA BAY has shown good improvement in his last two starts on this course. He raced on the speed last time but was outrun late by Across The Bow. The son of Rafeef tries the 1250m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should shed his maiden tag. 

GRAND ALLEGRO showed good improvement when second over this C&D last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. He will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders. 

MASTER BOMBER ran on well when fourth over this C&D on debut. The obvious concern is his wide draw of 11 but with luck in running, he should make the natural progression to be competitive. 

Race 3

WHAT A FORTUNE set the pace over 1400m on this course last time and fought hard all the way to the line. The son of What A Winter has cracked a good draw of two. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and in this field, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. 

PALACE GIFT was his own worst enemy over 1400m last time as he over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

KING VISERYS finished 2.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result. 

Race 4

BJORN IRONSIDE ran a good race when third in the Grade 2 @WorldPool Twitter Umkhomazi Stakes last time. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has class about him and if fit, he should be the one to beat. 

SURGE OF POWER is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. His form prior to that outing was good. Grant van Niekerk is booked to ride and he has the ability to run a big race. 

BLACK EGRET ran on strongly when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. He has met some strong company in recent races. If suited to this course, he should be competitive. 

Race 5

ZEITZ has produced two good second place finishes to date. He was touched off over 1250m last time. The son of Vercingetorix is bred to enjoy the rise to 1600m. He meets the right field and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should take a power of beating. 

AFRIQUE was a tad disappointing in his last start. He produced an encouraging debut effort over 1250m on this course. He should be suited to 1600m and with luck, may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

BOMBERS IN THE SKY showed some improvement in his last start over this C&D. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He jumps from a handy draw of five and can finish in the placings.

Race 6

GROOVEJET finished 1.75 lengths behind JOIN THE DOTS last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

JOIN THE DOTS won a good race over this C&D last time. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect. 

TOTHEMOONANDBACK was running on too late when second over 1800m on this course last time. He carries a handy galloping mass of 55.5kgs and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should earn a cheque.

Race 7

This is a weak Class 5 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SPIRIT‘S UNITE from the Piet Steyn stable. He stayed on at the finish over 1250m in Class 4 Company last time. He drops back in Class and runs well for Aldo Domeyer. If everything goes according to plan, he should be the one to beat. 

UNSOLVED RIDDLE‘S last three starts on this course have been good. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

IGNATIUS is better than his last start over 2000m. He takes a drop in class and on best form shown, he would not be a shock winner. 

Race 8

Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. HLUHLUWE was not disgraced in the Grade 1 The HKJC Champions Cup last time. He is much better than his run in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July suggests. The son of Trippi won his only attempt over this C&D. This outing will bring him on nicely for future feature races where he is likely to be competitive. Grant van Niekerk should give him all the necessary assistance from the widest draw and he could start his season on a winning note. 

ROYAL AUSSIE ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint last time. He has won four times and finished third twice from seven starts over this distance. The son of Royal Mo merits healthy respect. 

RASCOVA has consistent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that Red Palace has come out and won again since. She won her only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

Race 9

ARTISTE won a good race in her last start over this C&D, despite having faltered at the 200m mark. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Canford Cliffs clearly has class about her and she should be the one to beat. 

BABELICIOUS has good form lines to her credit. She stayed on when third over 1400m on this course last time. She will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

PUSHING LIMITS ran a fair race over 1000m on this course last time. It must be noted that Be Merry has come out and won again since. She carries a handy galloping mass of 55.5kgs and can finish in the placings.

Race 10

CAPTAIN‘S DESTINY was unlucky not to have won her last start over this C&D. She was cramped for galloping room at the 200m mark and finished off her race strongly. The daughter of William Longsword is back against her own sex and may be the one to side with. 

ALLTHEBOYSIVELOVED won a good race on debut over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She takes on stronger but could be anything and can remain unbeaten. 

VERONIQUE produced a strong finish when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. She is clearly in a good space and can follow up with another victory
