Race 1
CONGRESSMAN showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He set the pace that day but found one too good in the form of Midway. The son of Querari would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He gets the tongue-tie fitted for the first time which may do the trick. He has scope and in this field, he should be the one to beat.
GROOVEJET stayed on when second over 1600m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and from his good draw of four, he should be one of the leading contenders.
WOOD WORLD’S last two starts have been fair. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. He is a progressive type and with luck in running, he should finish in the placings.
Race 2
ENGLISH MISTRESS rallied late when second over 1400m at Fairview. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. She will strip much fitter and from pole position, she may be rewarded for consistency.
LADY SPRINGFIELD showed good improvement when second over 1600m last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1800m. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she is a threat.
STYLE ICON stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She is back against her own sex and from her good draw of three, she should be competitive.
Race 3
PACAYA found one too good in the form of The Futurist last time. He has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this distance. He is suited to this course and if not in need of the run, he can return to winning ways.
LOVE IS A ROSE raced from a handy position over this distance in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes last time but found one too good in the form of Red Palace. Corne Orffer knows her well and if fit, she should give the males a run for their money.
SACHDEV’S last two starts have been fair. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of two and will be staying on strongly at the business end.
Race 4
BLUE BAY challenged strongly when second over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Otto Luyken. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He does have an awkward draw of nine to contend with, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
CALL TO UNITE finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
KING PELLES was an easy winner of his last start over 2000m on this course. He takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 5
BIG UNIT should have finished closer to the winner in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth as he was held up for a run at the 300m mark. He returns from a 16-week break, during which time he was gelded. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. He is the stable elect with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle and if fit, he can return to winning ways.
DAS GUTE ran on from far back when second over 1600m last time. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should pose a massive threat.
KELP FOREST finished 3.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
LADY LOXTON lost a length leaving the start last time but stayed on to finish second. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes a drop in class and if getting away to a clean start, she should go one better.
LOOK FORWARD raced from a prominent position over 1200m last time but found one too good in the form of Beneath The Moon. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
NILE THE BOSS was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. If Tristan Godden is able to switch her off early, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 7
RIVERSTONE was in need of his comeback run over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of The United States takes a big drop in class and will strip much fitter. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be the one to beat.
DEAN STREET showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should be hard to peg back.
SPEED RACER has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. If not in need of the run, he should be competitive.
Race 8
MY FLOWER FATE is better than her last start in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes. She returns from a 14- week break which would have done her the world of good. She won her only attempt over this C&D. It is encouraging that Corne Orffer steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, she should be too good for this field.
SOUTHERN SKIES won a good race in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She returns from a 15-week break and the stable have opted to fit a pair of blinkers. From pole position, she merits healthy respect.
MISS MARGUERITE finished 3.05 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 9
BECKY SHARP was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1250m on this course. Her penultimate run when second over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, catches the eye. The daughter of Rafeef takes a drop in class and with luck from the widest draw, she should be the one to beat.
TRES CHIC stayed on when third over 1200m last time. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has dropped in the ratings and from her good draw of four, she is one of the leading contenders.
MRS SHACKLETON showed signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most
