Race 1 

QUEENSLAND produced an encouraging debut effort over this C&D. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat. 

UMZINGELI WENYATHI has produced three decent efforts to date. He showed speed over 1200m on the Inside course last time and stayed on to finish third. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

FORCE PUBLIQUE ran a fair race over 1200m at the Vaal last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is a progressive type and can finish in the placings. 

Race 2

SISTERSHIP caught the eye when second on debut over this C&D. She received a bump leaving the start and finished off her race strongly. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The well-related daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and she can go one better. 

GASLIGHT DANCER showed good improvement when third over this C&D last time. She showed good pace and tried hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders. 

STORMY DAY is an imported daughter of Hi Happy from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, she may start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances. 

Race 3

CHIEFTAIN won a good race over this C&D last time. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is having his peak run and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he can follow up with another win. 

ONE FELL SWOOP was outrun late when third over 1160m on this course last time. She drops back to 1000m and the blinkers have been re-fitted. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is having her peak run and she should give the males a run for their money. 

COSMIC STAR finished 2.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today which is enough to turn the form around. However, CHIEFTAIN won easier than the official margin suggests and may still have the upper hand.

Race 4

RAFA BAY was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Rafeef has found a new lease of life on the Highveld and he can follow up with another victory. 

DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN finished 3 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

TWENTYTWENTYVISION won his last start over this distance at the Vaal with ease. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He steps up in class but is in a good space, and cannot be discounted with Piere Strydom retaining the ride. 

 

 

Race 5

I AM REGAL has fair consistent form lines to her name. She stayed on when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that It’s Her Way has come out and won again since. She has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this track and trip. The daughter of Canford Cliffs takes a drop in class and she can return to winning ways. 

ELEMBEE was doing her best work at the finish when third over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. Piere Strydom is back in the saddle and with luck in running, she should pose a massive threat. 

TEO TORRIATTE was an easy winner of her last start over 2400m at the Vaal. She finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 5.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables.

Race 6

DIMAKO‘S JET has good consistent form lines to her name. She over raced in the early stages of her last start over this C&D, and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that It’s Her Way has come out and won again since. She jumps from pole position and can notch up her fourth-career victory. 

TWOSTEP QUEEN finished 0.1 lengths behind KISSHOTEN last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. 

KISSHOTEN has finished third in her last two starts after returning from a 10-week break. She ran on from last over 1600m on the Inside course last time. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and she merits obvious inclusion.

Race 7

MAX THE MAGICIAN ran on from far back when fifth over 1450m on the Inside course last time. He has won once and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle, and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. 

ARGO ALLEY showed some signs of a form return over 1600m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The son of Argonaut would not be a shock winner. 

SUNSET RIOT was in need of his last start in the Listed Premier Gateway International Handicap. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. If putting his best foot forward, he is capable of winning this contest. 

Race 8

NYAKA NYAKA stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Jan Van Goyen. The son of Rabada takes on older rivals and carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs. He is a horse with scope and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can return to winning ways. 

OPEN HIGHWAY stayed on when third over this distance on the polytrack last time. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

FOSTINOVO was outrun late when sixth over 1450m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is having his peak run today and Raymond Danielson may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
