Race 1

WINTER GAMES was settled at the rear of the field in the Listed Premier Gateway International Thukela Handicap last time and finished off his race strongly. The son of What A Winter is having his peak run and has cracked a good draw of two. He should get a good run in transit and can notch up his fourth- career victory.

I SALUTE YOU stayed on when fourth in the race referred to above. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. Richard Fourie rides from pole position, and he is one of the leading contenders.

IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA returns from a 17-week break which may have done him the world of good. His penultimate run when third in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes catches the eye. If not in need of the run, he has the class to fight out the finish.

Race 2

ELEGANTRIX is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Omoda Golden Horseshoe, against male company. She was inconvenienced at the 300m mark that day and was reported to be not striding out. Her penultimate run when second to Direct Hit catches the eye. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and with luck in running, she can return to winning ways.

KEUKENHOF stayed on at the finish in the Grade 2 SplashOut Golden Slipper last time. She finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. There should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

PRINCESS OF GAUL found betting support when winning on debut over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She showed good pace, found a kick and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Vercingetorix jumps from pole position and if not too green around the turn, she can remain unbeaten.

Race 3

ARISTOCRATIC is the best bet on the programme. He caught the eye when fourth in the Grade 2 Omoda Golden Horseshoe last time. He had to be eased at the 800m mark, turned for home a long way out of his ground and finished strongly. The son of Danon Platina won his debut over this distance on the polytrack with ease. He clearly has class about him and if all goes according to plan in running, he should take a power of beating.

SHADOWFAX followed up his maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1400m at Turffontein. He won his maiden over 1160m with Richard Fourie up in his penultimate start. He is a horse with ability and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ZALATORIS raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Golden Warrior. He was not disgraced in his penultimate run in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion. Keagan de Melo rides from a handy draw of four and he cannot be discounted.

Race 4

GOLDEN PALM is a possible Pick 6 banker. She was super-impressive when winning the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes over 1400m at Fairview last time. She won a good race in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery in her penultimate run. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has a good turn of foot and should love racing on this track. She jumps from pole position and is the horse to beat.

ONE FINE WINTER was not beaten far when third in the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Championship last time. The saddle was reported to have slipped in running that day. The daughter of What A Winter has class and may be the horse to fill the exacta spot.

TINA LOVELACE raced wide around the turn in the Grade 2 SplashOut Golden Slipper last time but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Danon Platina will love the rise to 1600m and she may be the horse to cause the upset.

Race 5

CHRONICLE KING won a game race in the Grade 2 Omoda Golden Horseshoe last time. Despite receiving a bump and getting carried inwards at the 300m mark, he won going away. The son of Vercingetorix has no issues with the step up to 1600m. He jumps from a good draw of four and with a bit of luck in running, he can follow up with another victory.

TIN PAN ALLEY finished 1.6 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He tries the 1600m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a massive threat.

MALMESBURY MISSILE has good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on at the finish when second in the race referred to above. He should not have any issues with the rise to 1600m and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

QUESTIONING had to overcome a wide draw in the Grade 3 Post Merchants. He was taken back but turned for home in a wide position, and stayed on at the finish. His penultimate run when fifth behind Gladatorian in the Grade 2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes was encouraging. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. He jumps from a handy draw of six and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he may be the horse to cause the upset.

TENANGO was an impressive winner of the Grade 2 Golden Horse Sprint last time. The wide draw of 13 is an obvious concern. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SURJAY is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Golden Horse Sprint. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He won this race last year and will be looking to defend his title.

Race 7

MADISON VALLEY was not disgraced when fifth in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July last time. He stayed on at the finish in a slow run race. The son of Mambo In Seattle finished fifth in this race last year. He is likely to get a good run in transit from barrier two and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

KING PELLES was an easy winner in the Grade 3 Durban Gold Vase last time. The son of Duke Of Marmalade has had the perfect preparation for this race and he can bring up the hat-trick.

HOLDING THUMBS finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned, but he should finish closer as a result.

Race 8

DAVE THE KING is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge. He fought hard to hold Oriental Charm at bay that day. The son of Global View won this race last year and comes into this contest with the same preparation. He is likely to get his own way in front and can defend his title.

THE REAL PRINCE showed good guts when winning the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight jumps from pole position and merits healthy respect over this distance.

SEE IT AGAIN had to be withdrawn from the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July. He should have finished a lot closer in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge last time. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo is booked to ride and with luck in running, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 9

VJ’S ANGEL ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes last time. The manner in which she has finished off her last two outings suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight won a Grade 1 on this meeting last year. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if putting her best foot forward, it would be no surprise to see her in the winner’s enclosure.

RAINBOW LORIKEET raced in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July last time. She finished 1.7 lengths behind LITTLE SUZIE in her penultimate run. She is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle which is a big plus.

LITTLE SUZIE found betting support when winning the Grade 2 Tote Woolavington 2000 last time. She is a versatile type and with luck in running from her wide draw, she should be competitive.

Race 10

OUTLAW KING stayed on at the finish when fifth in the Grade 3 Post Merchants last time. The son of Rafeef should have no issues with the drop back to 1000m. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of seven and will be finishing strongly.

SYMPHONY IN WHITE should have finished a lot closer in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint last time as she was bumped and unbalanced at the 50m mark. She won her only attempt over this distance and on previous form, she should give the males a run for their money.

RODEO DRIVE has decent recent form lines to her name. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of The United States is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Keagan de Melo may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most
