RACE 1

COSMIC CLIFFS showed good improvement in her last start over 2000m on this course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. She will love the rise to 2400m and with the services of 1.5kgs claiming Apprentice Brevan Plaatjies, she can shed her maiden tag. 

GLOBAL SCENE finished 0.1 lengths behind SEMPRE BELLA last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most. 

SEMPRE BELLA showed very good improvement when second over 2000m on the polytrack last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved at the finish.

RACE 2

JUST FOR U’s last two starts for the Juan Nel yard have been good. She raced from a handy position over this distance on the polytrack last time and stayed on to finish third. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Global View is in a good space and can shed her maiden tag. 

AMANATTO finished 0.5 lengths behind BEACH QUEEN last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will strip much fitter and there should be good improvement to come from her. 

BEACH QUEEN has fair recent form lines to her name. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She should enjoy racing on this track and would not be a shock winner. 

RACE 3

GREEN MANDARIN is better than his last three runs in the Eastern Cape suggest. He had no clear run in the latter stages of his last start over 1800m. He was reported to be not striding out in his penultimate run. He also had traffic problems in his effort over this C&D, three runs ago. Apprentice Brevan Plaatjies takes the 1.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. The cheekpieces remain fitted and from his good draw of two, he can return to winning ways. 

MR FOX was his own worst enemy over 2000m on the polytrack last time as he over raced. The son of Canford Cliffs won his maiden with ease over this distance. He is back on the turf and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

DOWSER ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position and tried hard all the way to the line. The 5yo gelding merits healthy respect. 

RACE 4

RED WILLIAM ran a good race when second over 2000m on the polytrack last time. He raced from a handy position and rallied late. Two of his three career victories have come on this course. He jumps from pole position and is the horse to beat in this line-up. 

CHEERFUL CHARLIE B ran a fair race in his post maiden effort over this C&D. Apprentice Brevan Plaatjies takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he is one of the leading contenders. 

GEORGE HANDEL finished 0.5 lengths behind ALADO’S PRIDE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won over this distance previously and would not be a shock winner.

 

 

RACE 5

MASKED VIGILANTE was doing his best work late when 2.8 lengths behind DUBAI HILLS last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He finished 1.55 lengths behind SONG OF MYSELF in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he can go close. 

SONG OF MYSELF ran a fair race in the Non-Black Type East Cape Breeders Stakes last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should give the males a run for their money. 

DUBAI HILLS is a winner of his last two starts over this distance on the polytrack. He is yet to win on the turf from six starts, but is in a good space and cannot be ignored. 

Race 6

KING PRAWN stayed on when second in the Listed WSB Dahlia Plate last time. It must be noted that ANOTHERDANCEFORME has come out and won a Grade 2 since. The son of Master Of My Fate should love the rise to 1400m. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he may be the horse to beat. 

READY won his last start over 1200m easier than the official margin suggests. He finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result. 

AUGUSTA ROSSO finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 7

SWEETIE DARLING is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was in the Non-Black Type East Cape Breeders Stakes. She raced on the speed that day and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. The daughter of Royal Mo is unbeaten from three starts on this course and she can keep that record intact. 

GIMME‘S LASSIE finished 0.15 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

ELLORIX fought hard when second over 1000m on the polytrack last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.

RACE 8

IMAGINABLE was super-impressive when winning his last start over this C&D last time. He showed a good turn of foot and drew clear of the opposition. The son of William Longsword has found a new lease of life in the Eastern Cape. He is in a good space and can follow up with another victory. 

SILVERY SURFER finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

BEECHAMWOOD BOY has not finished too far off the winner in his last three outings. He stayed on when fourth over this distance on the polytrack last time. The blinkers have been fitted which may do the trick
