RACE 1
SEPTEMBER FLOWER has produced two good efforts to date. She lost two lengths leaving the start last time but stayed on to finish second. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and if jumping on terms, she should go one better.
CAPE FLOWER set the pace over 1200m last time but found one too good in the form of Confetti. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Futura. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili which will assist her cause.
OVER THE ATLANTIC showed very good improvement in her last start over 1000m on this course. She showed good pace but found one too good in the form of Bretty. If confirming her recent improvement, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 2
KING OF QUEEN has finished second in his last six starts. He raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, fought hard but was touched off by Mister Speaker. He has finished second three times from as many starts on this course. He is carded to race on 02 July 2024 and his progress in that outing will need to be monitored.
HAT HOT HAT is better than his last start on the turf. He finished third in his penultimate run over 1200m on this course. Marco van Rensburg steps back into the saddle and he is one of the leading contenders.
COLONEL GREEN’S last three starts have been fair. The son of Gimmethegreenlight gets the blinkers re-fitted and from his good draw of three, he can earn another cheque for his patrons.
RACE 3
TAKE A MULLIGAN showed good improvement when second in his last start over this distance on the turf. The manner in which he finished off his race in the closing stages was encouraging. The son of Twice Over meets the right field and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
PORTCULLIS ran a fair race when third over 1600m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He tries the 2000m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat.
ISLAND MASTER was his own worst enemy over 2200m last time as he over raced in the early stages. However, he stayed on to finish third. The son of Master Of My Fate drops to 2000m and if switching off early, he can finish in the placings.
RACE 4
WILLIAM THE FIRST showed signs of a form return in his local debut over 1200m on the turf. He should have finished closer to the winner that day has he had to be steadied at the 200m mark and 150m mark. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and if suited to the polytrack, he should be the one to beat.
DUKE OF ORANGE won a game race in his last start over 1300m on this course. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili retains the ride and he can follow up.
BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON followed up her maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over this C&D. She was reported to be not striding out and in season that day. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
YOU WIN AGAIN is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She takes on stronger but may be ahead of the handicapper and can notch up the hat-trick.
KABON KAPI raced from a handy position over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Gocekwithlove. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
RED SASH finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 6
MASKED VIGILANTE ran a good race when third over 1600m on the turf last time. He was an easy winner of his penultimate outing over 1400m on this course. The tongue-tie has helped the son of Vercingetorix and he may be the one to side with.
DONNY TEE ran a fair race over this C&D last time. His penultimate run must be ignored. His form prior to that outing was consistent. The son of Duke Of Marmalade is likely to race on the speed from barrier three and he may be hard to catch.
TRANSACT ran a fair race against stronger last time. It must be noted that Jewel Cat has come out and won again since. He takes a drop back in class and must be included in all bets.
RACE 7
JOY AND PEACE is a winner of her last three starts. She lost two lengths leaving the start in the Listed TAB East Cape Derby but ran on well before winning with ease. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is the class horse in this contest and she should take a power of beating.
GIDEON’S DAUGHTER fought hard for her last victory over 2000m on the turf. She has won twice, finished second three times and third once from seven starts on this course. She is a solid back-up for the Alan Greeff stable.
SAY YES finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.
RACE 8
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN was unlucky not to have won his last start over this distance on the turf. He over raced in the early stages and was held up for a run at the 200m mark. The son of Dynasty finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of two and with luck in running, he can return to winning ways.
TIMBAVATI RIVER ran on well when winning his last start over this distance. Three of his seven career victories have come on this course. The son of Duke Of Marmalade will be mowing down the frontrunners from his wide draw.
FATEFUL DAY got up on the line when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. With luck in running, he can follow up with another victory
