Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Handicap contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CALLABURN from the Fanie Bronkhorst stable. He is much better than his last start at Hollywoodbets Greyville as he raced wide around the turn. His form prior to that outing was consistent. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.

TEO TORRIATTE raced from a handy position over 2000m last time, but was outrun late by Kiss Of Fire. She tries the 2400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a massive threat.

JAPANESE MAPLE’S last three starts have been fair. He finished 3.5 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 2

This is a weak Merit Rated 66 Handicap field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CARNELO from the Shaylen Naidoo stable. He ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Kobeli Lihaba is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw and he may be hard to peg back.

SAFE SPACE showed signs of needing his first run for the Tony Peter stable. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. He will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.

GIMME THE FLAME showed some signs of needing her comeback run last time. She would have come on from the run and on best form shown, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 3

ULTIMISSIMO showed signs of a form return in her last start over this distance. She stayed on at the finish when fourth against her own age group. The daughter of Fire Away carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and in this line-up, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

AMERICAN REBEL stayed on when fourth in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. The son of Rebel King is a progressive type and from his good draw of four, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

PATH OF POWER finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 4

This is a weak Maiden Handicap field and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is COMMANDER OF ALL from the Fabian Habib stable. He moved up well in his last start over 1200m, but was outrun late. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Captain Of All has the perfect opportunity to shed his maiden tag in this field.

SMASHING has been disappointing in her last two starts. On her earlier form, she is capable of featuring in this company.

SOMEDAY MAYBE has gone off form in recent outings. She has finished second twice and third twice from eleven starts over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 5

NUCLEAR FORCE stayed on when fourth over this distance last time. The son of Global View takes a drop in class and it is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

FLAG BEARER showed good improvement in his last start over 1800m. He raced from a handy position and tried hard all the way to the line. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

KAKIEBOS ran a fair race in her last start over this C&D. She is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle and from her good draw of four, she can earn another cheque.

Race 6

BE REAL was settled at the rear of the field in her last start on the Turffontein Inside course and ran on powerfully to finish third. The daughter of Alado will love the rise to 2000m and she will enjoy the longer run-in. Piere Strydom keeps faith in the ride and from pole position, she may be the one to beat.

RED KNOT followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1800m on this course. She lost a length leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

ANGEL’S WISH took the lead at the 150m mark last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Vesuvio. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from nine starts on this course. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and she should be competitive.

Race 7

DELLA’S SWORD was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. The daughter of William Longsword should have no issues with the rise to 1450m. She jumps from a good draw of three and carries a nice weight of 53.5kgs. Back against her own sex, she can notch up her second-career victory.

LADY ELLIOT finished 1.25 lengths behind GOLDEN ASPEN last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should be involved at the finish.

GOLDEN ASPEN ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1200m on this course. Two of her seven career victories have come over this distance. She jumps from a good draw of two and can follow up.

Race 8

APACHE SON was given a peach of a ride when winning his maiden at the fourth time of asking. He ran on powerfully and got up where it matters most. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of The Apache takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and can follow up.

GOLDEN PAVILION is better than his last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. He has won over this distance previously. On best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

KING’S RANSOM was in need of his comeback run over 1000m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won his only attempt over this distance and should strip much fitter.

Race 9

PEACE OF MIND showed good speed when winning her maiden over 1000m on this course. Her trainer has found the perfect race for her first run in Handicap Company. The daughter of Var has plenty of scope and may be hard to peg back.

RED CARPET GIRL ran a fair race in her last start over 1000m. She ran on strongly when third in her penultimate run. If finding the form of that race, she should be involved at the finish.

COUNT YOUR CHANCES’ last two starts have been fair. She has won twice and finished third once from nine starts on this course. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Jacey Botes and with her light weight, she can feature
