Race 2
BINGO took his place in the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. His penultimate run when second over this C&D, catches the eye. He is back in Maiden Company and may be the one to side with.
EIGHT HATS was running on too late when second over this distance at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Hat Puntano is a progressive type and she should give the males a run for their money.
DRAGONHEART is an unraced son of Canford Cliffs from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner Arturo. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
Race 3
ICHACHA should have finished closer to the winner in his comeback run as he had to be eased and switched at the 300m mark. The son of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.
GREEN STREET finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
MIRROR FLECTION ran a good race when third on debut over 1160m on this course. He was green in running but stayed on at the finish. The son of Skitt Skizzle should enjoy the rise in distance and he should make the natural improvement.
Race 4
CITY LIGHTS has decent consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on when fourth over 1600m on the Inside course last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
POINTER moved up well over this distance at the Vaal last time, before getting caught late by Scars Of War. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
WINGS WITHIN ME finished 3.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 5
SALUTE THE FLAG ran in a Graduation Plate over 1400m on this course last time, and was far from disgraced. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Flying The Flag returns to Handicap Company and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, he may be the one to beat.
SAFE SPACE won his last start over this distance easier than the official margin suggests. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
BANHA BRIDGE finished 3.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
AMERICAN REBEL was an easy winner over this distance on the Inside course last time. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Rebel King jumps from pole position and he can follow up.
TO THE RESCUE has consistent form lines over further. He has finished second over this C&D previously. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is carded to race on 26 April 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
EIGER SANCTION is better than his last three starts. He is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. On best form shown, he would not be a shock winner.
Race 7
CYMRIC showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. The removal of the tongue-tie did the trick that day. The son of Vercingetorix is in a good space and he can notch up his fourth-career victory.
SILVER TUDOR finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
YAMADORI is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. On his previous form, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 8
SECRET CHORD has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. Andrew Fortune retains the ride and the combination can go one better.
WAR OF KINGDOMS made the expected natural improvement when winning his last start over 1200m at the Vaal. The son of Gimmethegreenlight takes on much stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
LEGENDARY followed up his maiden victory with a creditable fourth-place finish. He returns from a 12-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he should be competitive
