Race 1

BANK STREET showed improvement when second in his last start over this C&D. He stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of O’tenikwa who has come out and finished second since. The son of Global View is a progressive type and he can go one better.

LATE DECEMBER is better than his last start as he was reported to have a mouth injury. He finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

TURBO TWENTY may not have seen out the 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He will enjoy the drop back to 1200m and cannot be ignored.

Race 2

EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN has produced two good runs to date. He stayed on when third over this C&D last time. The son of Lancaster Bomber meets the right field and Richard Fourie may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

LA PULGA produced an encouraging debut effort over 1000m on this course. He lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The son of Pomodoro would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose a threat.

CUMBRE VIEJA finished 3.25 lengths behind the top selection on debut. He should have finished closer that day as he was carried outwards at the 200m mark. He would have come on from the run and is expected to make the natural progression.

Race 3

DIXIELAND BAND raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, moved up but was outrun late by Babelicious. She is in a good space and from her good draw of four, she may be the one to side with.

PENTOLINA finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today, but her wide draw is an obvious concern. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

WHITE WATERS finished 0.6 lengths behind the top selection last time. The daughter of Erupt is bred to enjoy the rise to 1400m. If finding the form of her debut run, she should be competitive.

Race 4

BE MERRY made the expected natural improvement when second in her last start over 1000m on this course. She showed good speed, but was caught late by Furious Queen. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is a progressive type and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

CHARLENE’S last three starts have been good. She would have come on from her last outing and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ELLORIX was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1100m. It must be noted that First Masterpiece has come out and won again since. The daughter of Vercingetorix may be rewarded for consistency.

Race 5

This is a weak Open Maiden field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is AZZURRI from the Lucinda Woodruff stable. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was carried outwards at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has plenty of scope and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of ten, he can shed his maiden tag.

TSUNAMI WARNING’S last three starts have been decent. Morne Winnaar is likely to use his early gate speed to get across from the widest draw and he may be hard to peg back.

TAM’S KNIGHT is having his first run for the Brett Crawford stable. If finding his earlier form, he can feature in a field of this nature.

Race 6

STEADFAST won a good race in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he quickened up and drew off in the closing stages was encouraging. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.

MONT LOISIR was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He takes on stronger but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

CARRIACOU is better than his last start over 1600m. If finding the form of his penultimate run in Class 3 Company, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 7

SUGAR MOUNTAIN is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes. He returns from an 11-week break which would have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from four starts over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.

ZAPATILLAS returns from a lengthy 42-week break. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from nine starts on this course. He is the class horse in this contest and if not in need of this outing, he should be competitive.

WECANGOALLNIGHT finished 0.85 lengths behind PORT LOUIS last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is ideally suited to this distance and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 8

SUMMER NIGHT CITY finished 1.75 lengths behind PLUM PUDDING last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won twice, finished second once and third three times from nine starts over this C&D. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

PLUM PUDDING followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this C&D. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Silvano is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

CATTALEYA finished 3.25 lengths behind the second selection in the race referred to above. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 9

DAIMYO fought hard for his maiden victory over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He finished 0.4 lengths behind Blue Bay, three runs ago. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has plenty of scope and can follow up with another victory.

MARSHALL FIELD won a good race in his last start over 2200m on this course. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SUDDEN SONG was doing his best work late in his last two starts over further. He has no issues with the drop to 2000m and he must be included in all bets
