Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Thursday 26th June where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
LITTLEMISSSPLENDID is better than her last start in the Listed Ridgemont Devon Air Stakes. Her penultimate run when second over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course catches the eye. Kabelo Matsunyane steps back into the saddle and if seeing out the 1600m, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SCHIPOLE was an easy winner of her last start at a nice price over 1400m on the Standside course. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and is the stable elect with Callan Murray in the saddle. She is one of the leading contenders.
LITTLEMISSMILLION was an easy winner on debut over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She takes on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
Race 2
ZALATORIS is the best bet on the programme. He stayed on nicely when fifth in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time. He challenged strongly when behind Charming Cheetah over 1160m in his penultimate run. The son of Erik The Red should love the rise to 1600m. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he should be too good for this field.
READ ALL ABOUT IT should have finished closer to the winner last time. The son of Hawwaam should have no issues with the rise to 1600m and he may be the horse to fill the exacta spot.
IDEAL SUMMER finished 3.2 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 3
CLARKSON finished 0.7 lengths behind SOVEREIGNS CALL last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
SOVEREIGNS CALL stayed on when fourth over 1400m at the Vaal last time. The son of Danon Platina should not have any issues with the rise to 1600m. He is carded to race on 19 June 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
COPPOLA may not have seen out the 2000m last time. His three starts prior to that over this distance were decent. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
STAY TUNED produced a promising debut effort when third over 1400m on the Standside course. He lost a length leaving the start, but finished off his race strongly. The son of Futura would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1500m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
NKWENKWEZI set the pace over 1600m last time before getting outrun late by Titans Of War. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LAVA COUNTY was a tad disappointing over 1160m on the Standside course last time. His penultimate run when second over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and he can show.
Race 5
ASIAH’S TIARA ran a fair race in her comeback run over 1450m on this course. She finished 1.75 lengths behind HOPSCOTCH that day. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She tries the blinkers which should keep her mind on the task at hand. The daughter of Radaba will strip much fitter and she would not be a shock winner.
HOPSCOTCH challenged strongly over 2000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Lava Lamp. She drops back in distance and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, she merits healthy respect.
A BIT OF CLASS ran a decent race on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. She would have come on from the run and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be right there.
Race 6
COSMIC QUEEN ran on powerfully when winning her last start over this distance on the Standside course. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Gavin Lerena retains the ride, and she can follow up with another victory.
ARTISTE ran a decent race when third over 1160m on the Standside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Craig Zackey may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.
NIGHT VIGIL stayed on at the finish over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. Three of her four career victories have come over this distance. 4kgs claiming apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia is booked to ride and she cannot be ignored.
Race 7
FAITHFUL NEO tired late when fifth over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Horizon won her debut over this C&D. The booking of Callan Murray is a big plus and if putting her best foot forward, she can return to winning ways. She is carded to race on 19 June 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
GIMMEFORSURE won a good race on debut over this distance on the Standside course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight takes on stronger, but she carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and can remain unbeaten. GAELIC DANCER should have finished closer to the winner last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Querari would not be a shock winner.
Race 8
BUSSTOPINHOUNSLOW stayed on nicely at the finish when third over 1400m on the Standside course last time. He has won once and finished second once from three starts on this course. The son of New Predator will strip a much fitter horse. He is unbeaten under Piere Strydom and will be looking to keep that record intact.
GUY GIBSON has been running on at the finish in his last three starts. He steps back up to 1450m and is one of the leading contenders.
BUSTER BARNES is having his first run in South Africa. He returns from a 48-week break after plenty of success in Zimbabwe. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
Race 9
RICHARD THE FIRST’S last three starts have been fair. He stayed on when fifth over 1160m on the Standside course last time. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. The son of William Longsword drops in class and can notch up his third-career victory.
ZIP CODE showed good signs of a form return over 1600m on the Standside course last time. He stayed on at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Claw. If confirming his recent improvement, he should pose a threat.
KISSHOTEN won a good race over 1400m at the Vaal last time. She returns from a 10-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of this outing, she should go close
