RACE 1

MASTER FORESTER has shown good improvement since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was inconvenienced at the 100m mark. The son of Master Of My Fate is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.

NIKES RAY OF LIGHT finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

VERY VAR VAR is an unraced daughter of Horizon from the Kelly Mitchley stable with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. She is related to four-time winner Machete Man. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

RACE 2

SWEET CAKE showed very good improvement when second in her last start over 1200m on this course. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she received a bump at the 100m mark. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle will love the rise to 1400m. She is a progressive type and can go one better.

FIRST WISH had to overcome a wide draw when fifth over 1600m. Her penultimate run when second over 1200m was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will be ideally suited to 1400m and Sean Veale may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GLOBAL SCENE ran a good race when fourth over 1300m on the Polytrack last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She finished 1.5 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 3

BREEDE BABY is the best bet on the programme. She followed up her maiden victory with an encouraging effort over 1200m on this course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day catches the eye. The daughter of Captain Of All will love the rise to 1600m. She jumps from a handy draw of five and is the one to beat.

SUCHALIFE fought hard over this distance on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Arabian Red. She tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

RED MOON RISING hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. On best form shown, she is capable of running into the placings in this field.

RACE 4

GUNSMOKE is better than his last start. He finished 0.25 lengths behind DESTINY’S ANGEL in his penultimate start. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Three of his four career victories have come on this course. Chase Maujean is likely to settle him near the rear of the field and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

DESTINY’S ANGEL is a winner of his last two starts over this C&D. He set the pace last time and held on where it matters most. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and he can notch up the hat-trick.

SPECMAGIC finished 0.05 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 5

YOUWINAGAIN is a winner of her last three starts on the Polytrack. She fought hard for her last victory over this distance. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She is in a good space and may be the one to side with.

MYTHICAL DREAM showed good improvement with the blinkers fitted last time. She showed good speed and stayed on to finish fourth. If repeating that effort in this field, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

SYMBOL OF LOVE ran a good race when third over 1000m on the Polytrack last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. She is back against her own sex and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, she should be involved at the finish.

Race 6

HAROLD THE DUKE was not disgraced when third in the Non-Black Type Port Elizabeth Gold Cup last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he was steadied at the 300m mark. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. He takes a big drop in class and can notch up his fourth career victory.

THE INKOSANA set the pace and held on where it matters most when winning his last start over 2200m on the Polytrack. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The 6-year-old gelding jumps from a good draw of four and if suited to the track, he may be hard to peg back.

ELLIS ISLAND finished 1.55 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

RACE 7

THE MAURITIAN set the pace over 1300m on the polytrack last time and stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He finished 1.55 lengths behind SEQUOIA in his penultimate start. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He can return to winning ways.

MHLABENI finished 0.35 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

SEQUOIA was running on when fourth over 1600m last time. He won his penultimate effort over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 8

MASKED VIGILANTE has decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished 1.25 lengths behind GREAT MELODY last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is a consistent type and can notch up his fifth-career victory.

GREAT MELODY showed good speed when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

EXPLOSIVE SPEED finished 1.6 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
