PEREGRINE FALCON’S last start is best ignored as he was reported to be lame on his right hind leg. His debut effort when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, catches the eye. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returns from a 32-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, he should be the one to beat.
FENCING CAPTAIN was running on too late when second over this C&D last time. The son of Captain Of All is a progressive type. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
GALACTUS’ last two starts in KZN have been fair. He will enjoy the drop back to 1000m and can place from pole position.
Race 2
MYSTIC MAJESTY has run three fair races to date. He was his own worst enemy last time as he over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Canford Cliffs meets the right field and if Richard Fourie is able to switch him off early, he should be hard to peg back.
TWENTYTWENTYVISION may not have seen out the mile last time. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
HONOR OF KINGS is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. He is related to multiple Grade 1 winner, Princess Calla. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 3
I’M SO PRITTI has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She challenged strongly over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Scarlet Macaw. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix meets the right field and she should take a power of beating.
BRIGHT GOLD has run two fair races to date. The daughter of Gold Standard has plenty of scope and she can improve to complete the exacta in this line-up.
TAP SHOES is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the irons. She is related to multiple winners including Boogie Shoes and Shoemaker. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.
Race 4
TUSCAN ROMANCE has finished second in both her efforts to date. She showed good speed over 1200m last time before getting outrun late. The daughter of Master Of My Fate returns from a 24-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If seeing out the extra 200m on offer, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
CHAMPAGNE KISSES has shown good improvement in each of her races to date. She showed speed over 1000m last time before getting outrun late. The daughter of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders.
GOLDEN ANGEL was squeezed leaving the starting stalls last time and finished off her race well. The daughter of Gold Standard would have gained from the experience and should love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.
Race 5
SPIRIT’S UNITE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has finished second twice and third three times from seven starts over this distance. Despite his big mass of 61.5kgs, he can return to winning ways in this line-up.
AUGUSTA BLUE finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
UNSOLVED RIDDLE showed good improvement in his last start over 1250m on this course. He ran on from last to finish second. Craig Bantam retains the ride and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be competitive.
Race 6
INFRARED produced an eye-catching comeback run over this C&D, three weeks ago. The manner in which he ran on at the finish that day was encouraging. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and he should be the one to beat.
FUTURE TURN raced from a handy position over this C&D last time before getting outrun late by Allez Moris. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can go one better.
SALVATOR MUNDI set the pace over 1800m last time before getting caught late. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. He is having his peak run and should be right there.
Race 7
GREAT CAT has good recent form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Gimmethatpearl. She would have come on from the outing and should strip a much fitter horse. The daughter of Dynasty can notch up her fourth-career victory.
IN THE GREEN ZONE finished 2.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
POLYNOMIAL finished 3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will be doing her best work at the finish.
Race 8
BENEATH THE MOON showed good speed when winning her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. The daughter of The United States is in a good space and can follow up.
HANG OUT THE STARS set the pace over 1400m last time before getting outrun late. She has cracked a good draw of three and with Richard Fourie retaining the ride, she may be hard to peg back.
LOOK FORWARD produced a typical second run after a rest last time. She is having her peak run today and on best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
