Fifa Club World Cup Groups D and F conclude on Wednesday and the local interest concerns whether Mamelodi Sundowns can reach the knockout rounds.

Group D is topped by Flamengo who have the maximum of 6 points and are already assured of progressing from the group as winners. Chelsea and Esperance both have 3 and Los Angeles have yet to earn a point and cannot qualify for the knockout rounds.

 

At 03:00 LA take on Flamengo and other than the prize money for winning the game is concerned this is a dead rubber.

Esperance bounced back from a 2-0 defeat the Flamengo with a 1-0 win over LA to keep themselves in the hunt. Chelsea started well enough with a 2-0 win over LA but after taking an early lead against Flamengo they crashed to a 3-1 defeat.

Given LA v Flamengo has nothing riding on it I can take a chance on Giroud to score for LA for a small stake. As far as the Chelsea game is concerned Liam Delap surely has to start after Jackson's red card in their previous match but Cole Palmer is my pick to score any time

Group F sees Fluminense top the log ahead of Dortmund on goal difference and both sides have 4 points. Sundowns are third with 3 points and Ulsan HD have yet to open their account and are out of contention. Fluminense and Dortmund both know a point will see them into the knockout rounds whilst Sundowns will progress with a win.

Sundowns 29/10 Draw 26/10 Fluminense 9/10

 

These games kick off at 21:00 and assuming Dortmund will win Sundowns have to go for it. They paid the price for conceding some sloppy goals against Dortmund but they looked more than decent in attack. Fluminense can try and drop a dead bat on this one but if they concede fairly early they could be in trouble and I'll take my chance with Downs to score at least twice.
