Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday 27th April where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
CAPTAIN’S PRIDE has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, before getting outrun late by I’m A Fireball. The daughter of Captain Of All is a progressive type and she can go one better.
MALSHANA MOU fought hard when third over 1200m on this course last time. She drops back to 1000m and Richard Fourie is booked to ride. If confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a threat.
SCORPIO hails from the visiting Corne Spies stable. He showed signs of needing his comeback run over this distance at Turffontein last time. He would have come on from the run and if all went well with his travels, he should be the first male past the post.
Race 2
WINGS OF JOSEPHINE showed good speed when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a seven- pound penalty for that victory. Apprentice Jacey Botes takes the 4kgs off her back and she can follow up.
RUGGER LOVER finished 3.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, WINGS OF JOSEPHINE won easier than the official margin suggests and she may still have the upper hand.
HAPPY ANALIA won a good race over this C&D last time. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory. If keeping on a straight line, she should have a say.
Race 3
PHIL THE FLUTER was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1600m at Fairview last time. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he changed stables. Andrew Fortune is booked to ride and if settled into his new surroundings, he can win a race of this nature.
BRIGHTSUNNYDAY showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. With a bit of luck in running, she should give the males a run for their money.
DOIN’ TIME was caught late when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. It is encouraging that Raymond Danielson retains the ride and if not in need of this outing, he should earn another cheque.
Race 4
O’TENIKWA finished off his race well when third over 1400m in the Grade 3 Byerley Turk. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He should be ideally suited to this distance and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TEFLON MAN was given a peach of a ride when winning the Non-Black Type KwaZulu-Natal Stakes last time. He is the stable elect with Craig Zackey retaining the ride. The son of Querari is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
OUTLAW KING ran on well when winning the Grade 2 De Grendel Cape Merchants. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Rafeef returns from an 18-week break and if not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 5
WILD WILD GREEN should have finished closer in the Grade 3 SplashOut Cape Of Good Hope Nursery last time. It must be noted that Direct Hit has come out and won again since. She won her penultimate run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has class about her and may be the one to side with.
JORDASH made the natural improvement when winning her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
KEUKENHOF was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1200m on this course. She showed good pace and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of The United States takes on stronger, but she could be anything.
Race 6
MILITARY COMMAND followed up his maiden win with an impressive victory in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Sales Cape Slipper. He showed good speed that day, found another kick and drew off late. The son of Fire Away has plenty of class about him and he should notch up another victory.
MALMESBURY MISSILE finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
I’M A FIREBALL won a good race over 1000m on this course, on debut. The son of Vercingetorix showed authority when winning that day. He takes on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
Race 7
ROCCAPINA should have finished closer to the winner in the Grade 3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap last time. She ran a cracker when third in the Grade 1 Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes in her penultimate run. The daughter of One World has plenty of class about her and Raymond Danielson may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.
ASIYE PHAMBILI is better than her last start in the Grade 1 HKJC World Pool Cape Flying Championship. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of What A Winter returns to Duncan Howells and she can go close.
GIMMIE’S COUNTESS was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It would be no surprise to see her return to winning ways over this C&D.
Race 8
BRISTOL HERCULES was running on when third over 1600m on this course last time. He returns from a 15- week break, during which time he changed stables. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if fit, he may be the one to beat.
ICY BLAST finished 0.8 lengths behind NELSON BAY last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is carded to race on 23 April 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
RICH FOLKS HOAX challenged strongly over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Quandary. He is drawn wide in barrier 13, but Craig Zackey knows him well and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle
