JINGLEBERRY produced a strong finish when winning on debut over 1160m on this course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight showed a good turn of foot and caught the eye that day. She does take on stronger, but she looks to be above average and can remain unbeaten.

ONE FINE WINTER followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery. The daughter of What A Winter has ability and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GLASTONBURY finished 2.6 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

GREEN DIAMOND made the expected natural improvement when winning the Grade 2 TAB SA Nursery last time. She raced from just off the pace, quickened up nicely and drew off. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and she can follow up with another victory.

TIN PAN ALLEY won on debut over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. Despite losing a length leaving the start, he finished well and won easier than the official margin suggests. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the son of The United States is a solid back-up for the Sean Tarry stable.

KING HARALD finished 4.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

MY SOUL MATE was given a well-timed ride when winning the Listed 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should have no issues with the extra distance on offer. She is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.

EXPLOSIVE BOND found the 1400m on the sharp side last time. She finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.

NEBRAAS finished 4.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may battle to turn the form around.

Race 4

TIME FO ORCHIDS was not beaten far in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint last time. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GIMME A SHOT took the lead at the 150m mark last time before getting outrun late. She returns from a 15-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.

ALMOND SEA finished 3.55 lengths behind MIA MOO last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights this afternoon. With a bit of luck in running, she should be right there.

Race 5

OLIVIA’S WAY stayed on after a slow start when fourth in the Grade 1 TAB SA Derby last time. She should be ideally suited to this distance. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, she can return to winning ways.

WORLD OF ALICE finished strongly in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks last time. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

BEATING WINGS produced a typical second run after a rest last time. Three of her five career victories have come on this course. She is having her peak run today and should be the first older horse past the post.

Race 6

LET’S GO NOW ran a fair race in the Grade 1 TAB Empress Club Stakes last time. She was reported to be fatigued that day. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise to 2000m. If getting away to a clean start, she may be the one to beat.

MARAUDING HORDE is better than his last start in the Listed 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. On previous form, he should be the first male past the post.

HOTARUBI is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. He gets a change of headgear which may do the trick. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say.

 

 

Race 7

TRUTH is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 4Racing National Currency Sprint. The son of Heavenly Blue won his only attempt over this C&D. He runs well for Muzi Yeni and can bring up the hat-trick.

MELECH stayed on when sixth in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is one of the leading contenders.

PISTOL PETE should have finished closer to the winner last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 8

KAMENSKY won a game race over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of What A Winter is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and can keep that record intact.

DOITWITHDIAMONDS won a good race over 1800m on this course last time. She has finished second in both her efforts over this C&D. The daughter of Silvano should give the males a run for their money.

APACHE SON was an easy winner of his last start over 2000m on this course. The son of The Apache is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 9

LONGSWORD’S last two starts have been good. He stayed on when fourth over 1000m on the Inside course last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts on this course. If not in need of this outing, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

VIBE SA finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

BLIZZARD SNOW rallied late when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 10

OBSIDIAN was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Erupt takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

WRITTEN IN STONE challenged strongly when second over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ORIENTAL BOUQUET finished 1 length behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 11

CAPTAIN EFFICIENT has consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when second over this C&D last time. The 10-week break may have done him the world of good. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he can return to winning ways.

PRIZED PLATINUM has good recent form lines to his name. He showed pace over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, before getting caught late by Double Olympic. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

SAKHALA IS’CATHULO is better than his last start at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He finished 2 lengths behind MARIACHI MADNESS in his penultimate run. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
