Race 1

PRIORY TERRACE has finished second in both her efforts to date. She showed good speed over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Are You Sure. The drop to 1000m should suit her well. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she can shed her maiden tag. 

QUEEN FENN stayed on when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

CALL ME JANE returns from a 14-week break and is having her first run in KwaZulu-Natal. The daughter of Querari may be at her best over this distance and with the tongue-tie, she can improve to finish in the placings. 

Race 2

PEACE ROSE produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on this course. She took time to find her feet but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Querari would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat. 

FLYING SOUTH was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1400m last time. She drops to 1200m and the blinkers should sharpen her up. The daughter of What A Winter should be involved at the finish. 

GORGEOUS CAPE stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. The daughter of Hawwaam would have come on from the outing and should make the natural progression.

Race 3

DAWN TILL DUSK was squeezed leaving the start over 1400m last time and ran on well to finish second. He meets a small field, jumps from pole position and should get a good run in transit. Tristan Godden is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. 

UZWANO is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect. 

BACCHUS hails from the visiting Fabian Habib stable. His last start is best ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this distance. If all went well with his travels, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

Race 4

CASSANDRA‘S last start is best ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. The blinkers have been quickly removed. The daughter of Act Of War was touched off in her penultimate start over this C&D. She is back in Maiden Company and from pole position, she should be the one to beat. 

MISS TWINKLE ran a fair race when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. The daughter of Oratorio is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1600m. With a bit of luck in running, she should pose a massive threat. 

NKWENKWEZI hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. She is better than her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She finished second in her previous four outings and on that form, merits obvious inclusion.

 

 

Race 5

LUCRATIVE was not beaten far in the Grade 2 HKJC World Pool Tibouchina Stakes last time. She returns from an 11-week break which may have done her the world of good. The daughter of Vercingetorix is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. If not in need of the outing, she can keep that record intact. 

RUSSIAN DOLL is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1100m on this course. She would have come on from her last outing and can bring up the hat-trick. 

CAPTAIN‘S CHRISTY finished 0.7 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 6

IN THE BAG ran a fair race when fifth over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has dropped in the ratings and takes a drop in class. Tristan Godden steps back into the saddle and he can return to winning ways. 

PRIZED PLATINUM ran a good race when second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He was squeezed leaving the start and finished off his race strongly. It must be noted that Ensuing has come out and won again since. If getting away to a clean start, he should be competitive. 

CAPTAIN EFFICIENT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he should be involved at the finish. 

Race 7

ZIYASHA is better than his last two starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 Post Merchants. Five of his six career victories have come over this distance. If putting his best foot forward, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. 

LUHAMBA PHAMBILI was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He finished 1.9 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 4.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. 

DONQUERARI was not disgraced in the Listed HKIR In December Umngeni Handicap last time. He carries a handy galloping weight of 48.5kgs thanks to 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Jacey Botes. The son of Querari would not be a shock winner.

Race 8

RODRIGUEZ finished 1.4 lengths behind EL REY VIENE last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways.

EL REY VIENE set the pace over 1600m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of White Seahorse. The son of William Longsword is in a good space and may be hard to peg back.

TOMMY SHELBY followed up his maiden win with a good victory over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Querari is a progressive type and if all went well with his travels, he can bring up the hat-trick
