Goodforthegame Predictions:
Everton v West Ham (Saturday 19th October)
Everton return to action in the relegation zone with just 7 points and they have lost each of their last 4 matches. Only Newcastle have scored fewer than Everton's tally of 6 league goals this season and the last 2 home games ended in defeat to Sheffield United (2-0) and Manchester City (3-1). Two wins this season both came at Goodison, 3-2 against Wolves and 1-0 against Watford.
West Ham's 6 match unbeaten run was ended when they lost 2-1 at home to Palace just prior to the international break. They are unbeaten away from home with a win at Watofrd and draws at Brighton, Villa and Bournemouth.
Home advantage counted for nothing in the head to heads last season with West Ham winning 3-1 at Goodison and Everton were 2-0 winners in London.
Prediction Everton 1-1 West Ham
Bournemouth v Norwich (Saturday 19th October)
Bournemouth slipped back into mid table after a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal last time out. Prior to that loss they had found the net in every league game this season but have yet to keep a clean sheet. At home Bournemouth have1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat against their name.
Norwich are second from bottom in the standings after crashing 5-1 at home to Villa in their most recent outing. They have lost 5 of their last 6 although the result bucking that trend was an excellent 3-2 home win over Manchester City. Norwich have yet to earn a point away from home since earning promotion last season and with 21 goals conceded they have the worst defensive record in the top flight.
Prediction: Bournemouth 3-1 Norwich
Leicester v Burnley (Saturday 19th October)
A controversial penalty denied Leicester a point at Anfield last time out. The 2-1 defeat saw Leicester finish the round in fourth position and they return to the King Power Stadium where they are unbeaten with 1 draw followed by 3 successive wins.
Burnley are 2 points behind Leicester in seventh spot although only 3 of their 12 points have been earned on their travels. They lost at Arsenal early in the season and other road trips delivered draws at Wolves, Brighton and Villa.
The corresponding fixture last season finished without a goal whilst Leicester were 2-1 winners in the return at Turf Moor.
Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Burnley
Spurs v Watford (Saturday 19th October)
Spurs were beaten 3-0 at Brighton last time out and their record of 3 wins, 3 defeats and 1 draw tells a story of inconsistency. They have won 3 of 4 home games, most recently holding on with 10 men to beat Southampton 2-1 although the one defeat came against an early season struggler, a 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
Watford remain bottom of the log after a 0-0 stalemate at home to Sheffield United. They are the only top flight side without a win this season and their only point, and only goal on their travels came in a 1-1 draw at Newcastle.
Spurs won this fixture 2-1 last season although they did lose the first league meeting by the same scoreline
Prediction: Spurs 3-1 Watford
Man United v Liverpool (Sunday 20th October)
The game of the weekend comes from Old Trafford on Sunday where United are under pressure having won just 1 of their last 7 and they can be found in the bottom half of the standings with just 9 points. Their 2 league wins this season came at home to Leicester and Chelsea but they now come up against a Liverpool side who finished round 8 with an 8 point lead at the top of log.
Liverpool's 2-1 home win over Leicester made it 8 wins from 8 outings and including last season's results they have now won 17 straight league games, 1 shy of Manchester City's record. On their travels this season Liverpool have won at Southampton (2-1), Burnley (3-0), Chelsea (2-1) and Sheffield United (1-0).
This fixture finished without a goal last season whilst Liverpool were 3-1 winners when the teams met at Anfield. The last 6 head to heads in league games at Old Trafford have delivered 3 wins for United and 3 draws.
Prediction: Man United 1-2 Liverpool
Sheffield United v Arsenal (Monday 21st October)
Shefflield United have taken 9 points from their first 8 matches and their games have been pretty tight with just 7 goals scored and the same number conceded. They drew 0-0 at bottom of the table Watford last time out and in their most recent home game they put in a terrific shift to give Liverpoool a real contest but a goalkeeping error saw them go down 1-0.
Arsenal finished round 8 in third place after a 1-0 home win over Bournemouth. Their only win on the road this season came at Newcastle on the opening weekend and since then they have lost at Liverpool and drawn at Watford and Manchester United.
Prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 Arsenal
