Goodforthegame Predictions:

Brighton v Spurs (Saturday 5th October)

Brighton have only 4 teams below them in the standings and just 1 point of daylight over the the relegation zone. A 2-0 defeat at Chelsea last week means it's now 6 games without a win (3 draws, 3 defeats) with their only 3 point haul this season coming at Watford on the opening weekend. Home fixtures have delivered 1-1 draws with West Ham and Burnley either side of a 2-0 defeat to Southampton.

Despite playing most of the game with 10 men Spurs came through last week's home fixture with Southampton with a 2-1 victory to move up to sixth in the standings, 1 point behind fourth placed Arsenal. On the road this season Spurs have drawn 2-2 at Manchester City and Arsenal and lost 2-1 at Leicester. In midweek Spurs were thumped 7-2 by Bayern Munich in a Champions League home game.

Spurs won this fixture 2-1 last season and they were also 1-0 winners in the return.

Spurs are having a real roller coaster of a season but are Brighton good enough to take advantage of their disastrous defensive showing against Bayern? Perhaps not.

Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Spurs

Liverpool v Leicester (Saturday 5th October)

This is the game of the weekend and Liverpool remain top of the log, 5 points clear of Manchester City. A 1-0 win at Sheffield United last week made it 7 from 7 this season with the clean sheet being their second of the campaign. Liverpool have now won 16 straight league games, 2 shy of Manchester City's record. At Anfield this season Liverpool have beaten Norwich 4-1, Arsenal 3-1 and Newcastle 3-1.

Leicester thrashed 10 man Newcastle 5-0 in a home game last week to move up to third in the standings, 7 points behind Liverpool. Away from home this season their results have been mixed, a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, 2-1 win at Sheffield United and a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United which is their only loss so far.

Leicester came away from Anfield with a 1-1 draw last season and Liverpool won the return 2-1.

This should be a cracking game and Leicester should give a good account but Liverpool get the vote to edge it.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Leicester

West Ham v Crystal Palace (Saturday 5th October)

West Ham's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth last weekend stretched their unbeaten run to 6 league games (3 wins, 3 draws) and they finished the round in fifth place, level on points with fourth placed Arsenal. The Hammers only defeat this season came at home to Manchester City, 5-0, on the opening weekend. Two other home fixtures delivered 2-0 wins over Norwich and Manchester United.

Palace were 2-0 winners at home to Norwich last weekend and they are just 1 point behind West Ham in a congested mid to upper league table. They have lost 2 of their 3 road trips, at Sheffield United (1-0) and Spurs (4-0) either side of an excellent 2-1 win at Manchester United.

West Ham won this fixture 3-2 last season and the return at Selhurst Park ended all square at 1-1.

A narrow home win gets the vote.

Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Palace

Arsenal v Bournemouth (Sunday 6th October)

Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night to finish the round in fourth spot with 12 points. They return home where they beat Villa 3-2 recently, despite playing the bulk of the game with 10 men. Arsenal haven't kept a clean sheet since a 1-0 win at Newcastle on the opening weekend. Earlier results at home include a 2-2 draw with Spurs and 2-1 win over Burnley.

Bournemouth's 2-2 draw at home to West Ham came on the back of wins at home to Everton (3-1) and at Southampton (also 3-1). They have also won at Villa (2-1) this season although one other road trip to Leicester ended in a 3-1 defeat. Bournemouth have found the net in every league game this season but have yet to keep a clean sheet.

Arsenal won this fixture 5-1 last season and they also won 2-1 at Bournemouth.

This should be entertaining and Bournemouth might just come away with a point.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Bournemouth

Southampton v Chelsea (Sunday 6th October)

Southamnpton couldn't make their numerical advantage pay at Spurs last weekend, a game they lost 2-1 and they remain on 7 points from 7 outings. They were also beaten in their most recent home game, 3-1 by Bournemouth whilst other results at St. Mary's include a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool and a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Chelsea were 2-0 winners at home to Brighton last week to finish the round with 11 points and on the heels of the top 4. Their away fixtures have been full of goals with a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United on the opening weekend followed by a 3-2 win at Norwich and 5-2 victory at Wolves.

Chelsea won this fixture 3-0 last season and the return at Stamford Bridge ended without a goal.

Chelsea are terrific on their day but they don't run it on every week and they could be worth opposing..

Prediction: Southampton 2-1 Chelsea

Newcastle v Manchester United (Sunday 6th October)

Newcastle come into the game in the relegation zone with just 5 points after they crashed and burned 5-0 at Leicester time out. They have found the net just 4 times in 7 outings whilst conceding 13 and they are still looking for a home win after a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, a 1-1 draw with Watford and 0-0 stalemate with Brighton.

United's 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal earlier this week leaves them with a tally of 9 points from 7 matches. They have yet to win away from home in the league this season after 1-1 draws at Southampton and Wolves were followed by a 2-0 loss at West Ham.

United did the double over Newcastle last season winning 3-2 in Manchester and 2-0 on Tyneside.

United are a risky proposition but Newcastle are not in a good space right now. A chance is taken on the visitors

Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Man United
