Goodforthegame Predictions:
Southampton v Leicester (Friday 25th October)
Southampton snapped a 3 match losing streak with a decent 1-1 draw away to Wolves last weekend but only goal difference is keeping them out of the relegation zone. Their home record is very poor with just 1 point to show from 4 outings in front of their own supporters. Liverpool (2-1), Bournemouth (3-1) and Chelsea (4-1) have all won at St Mary's this season and Manchester United's visit ended in a 1-1 draw.
Leicester were 2-1 winners at home to Burnley last week and finished the round in third place, 2 points behind Manchester City and 8 shy of Liverpool. Away from home they have drawn at Chelsea (1-1) and lost at Manchester United (1-0) and Liverpool (2-1) but they did win away at Sheffield United (2-1).
Home advantage counted for nothing last season with Leicester winning 2-1 at St. Mary's and Southampton were 2-1 winners in the return.
Prediction: Southampton 1-1 Leicester
Brighton v Everton (Saturday 26th October)
Brighton played most of last week's 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa with 10 men and they return home where there most recent outing delivered their best result of the season, a 3-0 win over Spurs. Brighton are just 1 point clear of third bottom Newcastle and other results at home delivered 1-1 draws against Burnley and West Ham and a 2-0 defeat to Southampton.
Everton are 1 point better off than Brighton having eased the pressure on their coach with a fully deserved 2-0 win at home to West Ham last week. Their away record comprises of a 0-0 draw at Palace and defeats at Villa (2-0), Bournemouth (3-1) and Burnley (1-0).
Brighton won this fixture 1-0 last season after Everton had won 3-1 at Goodison.
Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Everton
Burnley v Chelsea (Saturday 26th October)
Burnley's 4 match unbeaten run ended with a 2-1 defeat at Leicester last week. They remain in the top half of the standings with 12 points, 9 of which were earned with home wins over Southampton (3-0), Norwich (2-0) and Everton (1-0) whilst 1 other home game ended in a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Chelsea made it 3 league wins in a row when they beat Newcastle 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend. That victory moved them into the top 4 for the first time this season and they now hit the road again with earlier away fixtures having delivered bags of goals. Since a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United on the opening weekend Chelsea have won at Norwich (3-2), Wolves (5-2) and Southampton (4-1).
Chelsea were 4-0 winners at Turf Moor last season and the return in London ended all square at 2-2.
Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Chelsea
Liverpool v Spurs (Sunday 27th October)
Liverpool's 100% record ended at Old Trafford last weekend when they played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. They still finished the round 6 points clear of Manchester City and they have been foot perfect at Anfield with wins over Norwich (4-1), Newcastle (3-1), Arsenal (3-1) and Leicester (2-1).
Spurs had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Watford last weekend and they finished the round with 12 points, 5 shy of a top 4 spot. They were beaten 3-0 at Brighton in their most recent road trip whilst other away fixtures delivered draws at Manchester City and Arsenal (both 2-2) and a 2-1 defeat at Leicester.
Liverpool won both league meetings last season by a 2-1 scoreline and also beat Spurs 2-0 in the final of the Champions League.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Spurs
Norwich v Manchester United (Sunday 27th October)
Norwich picked up a useful point with a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth last weekend but they remain in the relegation zone with a total of 7 points. Their 2 victories this season came in home games against Newcastle (3-1) and most notably Manchester City (3-2). Other home games saw Norwich lose to Chelsea (3-2) and Villa (5-1).
United's 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool last weekend means they have won just 1 of their last 8 league outings and they can be found in the bottom half of the standings with just 10 points. They have struggled away from home this season with draws at Southampton and Wolves (both 1-1) and more recently defeats at West Ham (2-0) and Newcastle (1-0)
