Race 1 

BREEZE OVER ran a good race when second over 2400m on the Standside course last time. Despite a slow start, he set the pace before getting caught late by Aladdin’s Lamp. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Despite carrying top weight, he should be too good for this field. 

MO MENT was outrun late over 2850m on the Standside course last time. Two of his four career victories have come on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

KEY WORKER is better than her last start over 2000m on the Standside course. She tries the 3000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 2

MIDNIGHT FLYER produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. He showed good speed before getting outrun late by Clever Trevor. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better. 

JET QUERARI has some good recent form lines to his name. Chad Little is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. 

EMPRESS WU has good consistent form lines to her credit. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Global View should earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 3

PARADISE WAY produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Standside course. She took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and if not too green around the turn, she may be the one to beat. 

MASTER‘S LADY found one too good in the form of On The Run last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders. 

TEMPRANILLO is an unraced daughter of Querari from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. She is related to five-time winner Barbaresco. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances. 

Race 4

KARATE KID ran a good race when third over this distance on the Standside course last time. He has won three times and finished third twice from six starts over this trip. The son of Erupt will strip much fitter and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be the one to beat. 

COSMIC STAR finished 2.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. 

THE ABDICATOR returns from a 15-week break which may have done him the world of good. All four of his career victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he would not be a shock winner. 

Race 5

TEXAS RED is much better than his last start over 1400m on the Standside course. He has won twice and finished third twice from six starts on this course. It is encouraging that Kabelo Matsunyane returns to the saddle and if getting his own way in front, he can return to winning ways. 

MONEY HEIST was running on when fourth in the Listed Michel Nairac Appreciation Stakes Darley Arabian last time. He won his only attempt on this course. The blinkers are re-fitted and with just 52kgs on the back, he should pose a threat. 

NAVAJO NATION is better than his last start in the Grade 3 World Pool Gold Cup. Two of his three career victories have come over this distance. On best form shown, he should be competitive. 

 

 

Race 6

TOP DIVISION followed up his debut victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. He may have cost himself winning last time as he hung between the 500m mark and 350m mark. He looks to have ability and may be the one to side with. 

THE LAST DUKE showed good improvement when winning his maiden at the second time of asking. The son of Duke Of Marmalade is a progressive type and should pose a massive threat. 

BRIGHT AND BRAZEN followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1400m on the Standside course. She won her maiden over this C&D. She has plenty of scope and should give the males a run for their money. 

Race 7

ONE FELL SWOOP has consistent form lines to her name. She won her only attempt on this course. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber steps up to 1450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be the one to beat. 

DESTINY OF FIRE challenged strongly last time, but found one too good in the form of Famous Lady. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is one of the leading contenders. 

HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. She loves racing on this track and should be involved at the finish.

Race 8

GOLDEN ASPEN was doing her best work late when third over 1400m at the Vaal last time. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from nine starts over this C&D. She jumps from a good draw of two and back against her own sex, she can notch up her tenth-career victory. 

CAPE SAFFRON finished 1.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. 

SAIGON SUZIE was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and won with a ton in hand. Chase Maujean retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect. 

Race 9

SILENT WAR has fair recent form lines to his name. The drop to 1450m should not pose a concern as he has won over this distance previously. Chad Little is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. 

COMMAND PILOT set the pace over 1600m last time before getting outrun late by Bacchus. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

PRESSONREGARDLESS was an easy winner of his last start over 1400m on the Standside course. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck in running, he can follow up with another victory
