Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday 9th July where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
OPERA FAN ran a good race when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. She raced from a handy position but found one too good in the form of Mrsglittersparkles. The daughter of Horizon should love the rise to 1600m and from pole position, she can go one better.
GATHERING WINTER finished 2.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe.
OMNIA showed very good improvement when fourth over 1400m on the polytrack last time. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and she may have more to come.
Race 2
BRUH tried hard when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. The son of Danon Platina will love the rise to 1600m. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
FRENCH WAR LORD lost two lengths leaving the start last time and stayed on to finish fifth. The son of Act Of War will be at home over the extra distance on offer. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a challenge to the top choice.
MASTER SPY stayed on when third over this distance at Turffontein last time. The son of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and can feature.
Race 3
NEXT OF KIN produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He moved up like a winner that day before getting outrun late by Gimmie Rules. The son of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.
XENOPHON made the expected natural improvement when second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He should have no issues with the drop back to 1200m and is one of the leading contenders.
CARDINAL CHIEF ran a decent race when third on debut over 1000m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1200m. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.
Race 4
CELESTIAL DIAMOND has produced two good runs to date. She finished second over this C&D last time. The daughter of Fire Away is a progressive type and in this field, she can go one better.
LUCIENNE found one too good in the form of Ruby Rising last time. She returns from a 12-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
TRAIL RUNNER‘S last three starts have been fair. She returns from a 12-week break and makes her way down from the Highveld. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride, and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 5
WORLD OF ROYALTY has finished third in both his efforts to date. He ran on well over 1100m last time and should love the rise to 1600m. The son of One World is a progressive type and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
EL CAPITAN cost himself winning last time as he hung outwards in the final 200m. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If Sean Veale is able to keep him on a straight line, he should go close.
QUEEN OF THE AIR tried hard when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
IDEAL GIFT ran on well when second over 2000m on the polytrack last time. She finished 0.35 lengths behind HODGEPODGE in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Two of her five career victories have come on this course. She will be cherry-ripe and can go one better.
HODGEPODGE has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. If not in need of the run, she should pose a massive threat.
ELEMBEE ran a good race when third over 1800m at the Vaal last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
LOCK AND KEY raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and stayed on to finish second. If seeing out the 1750m, she should give the males a run for their money.
TIRPITZ finished 1.15 lengths behind LOCK AND KEY last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around. The 6yo gelding should have no issues with the rise to 1750m and with Siyanda Sosibo back in the saddle, he can notch up his fifth-career victory.
HAT’S PRIDE is better than his last start in the KZN Breeders Mile. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if finding the form of his penultimate run, he should run a big race.
Race 8
RAFA‘S BOY is a winner of his last two starts over this C&D. He showed good speed last time and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Savanna Valjalo which should assist his cause. He is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
B FIFTYTWO finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
MAJOR TOMMIE finished 2.3 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights. Gavin Lerena rides and he should strip much fitter. Despite his big mass of 64kgs, he should run a big race
